They started before the voting was finished, look at Musk showing a normal ballot paper for New York and claiming there was something strange about it.

It's really, really important that social democracy not be shown to work.

That would be a disaster that would be very difficult to lie one's way out of.

Fortunately for the right, the corporations are so powerful they'll be able to banjax most attempts at making things better for New York's non-wealthy.

Because they are afraid it shows that one of their key election tactics may no longer be as effective, i.e."he's a socialist, he's going to steal all your belongings and give them to the poor"
