General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Look at that increase for Reform, the bar is so much bigger than any other, that must mean next time it will be even bigger....
My sarcasm detector needs new batteries but I think you were noting that for every 3 voters who abandoned the Tories, 2 went to Reform but 1 went elsewhere. So they're not quite the lifeboat for the sinking SS Tory that might be assumed.

Aaah, one of the "But you HAVE to listen to me, 'cos I'm in charge!" types, who stamp their feet to show their "authority", rather than "I'm in charge because people will listen to me and trust me".

I've met a lot of them...
Over on Scrutable, there's one poster, "Black country boy" who was old enough to have done National Service, and he described a class of officer "that the men will follow, but only from a sense of curiosity"

I've seen that a fe times in various lists of officer reviews. Eg Link
My personal favourite which describes one guy I worked with "Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap." Except for the "well" part.

First evidence of anyone but Farage last night in Caerphilly.
36% of the vote and didn’t win.
They thought they had it.
At the Senedd election next May they won't get any more percentage than this time, probably even less as more rational voters turn up for the 'proper' election.
Plus, it's Reform policy to scrap Devolution and bring Wales directly back under Westminster control.

Well, that's a useful perspective piece. Reform are actually less racist than some people out there.

Only people who quote approvingly from Mein Kampf, admittedly, but you do see how mainstream Reform are compared to him.

Is there some relevance to this that warrants it being posted here without comment?

A prisoner has accidentally been released when he shouldn't have been. Apparently this happened over 250 times in the year 2024-2025. Mistakes happen. But this time it's headline news because WAAAA! ASYLUM SEEKER!

Saving taxpayer money

Reform-led Nottinghamshire County Council is to spend £75,000 installing new flags.

More than 150 union jack flags will be displayed in 82 locations in Rushcliffe, Broxtowe, Bassetlaw, Newark, Mansfield, Ashfield and Gedling.

Council leader Mick Barton said displaying the flags had the potential to "strengthen community spirit"

Just say "lost" Nigel.

Nigel Farage MP

At the start of polling day, I thought that we would get 12,000 votes and we did. I thought that number would be enough, but it wasn’t.

The total collapse of the Labour vote to Plaid was to a party that people know well and to a popular local politician.

The Senedd elections next year are a two-horse race between Reform UK and Plaid Cymru.
