Wow, UK has lost freedom of speech

People end up in prison for posting "hurty words" on the internet & many members of the public cannot work out why that is. If only we had more politicians, journalists and social media commentators, who could simply explain why that has happened. Instead, because it gets more attention, we have too many of those people stirring up confusion and discontent.

Since the beginning of time, in every country that has ever existed, if there is spreading, national rioting, the government and judiciary clamp down on what is a serious crime against the state, inciting the rioters.

Benevolent authoritarianism is NOT a thing, yet people keep trying it.

Sigh.

You can start with post number 2 on page one, right after your OP, where you responded to something entirely removed from Mark Corrigan's challenges. Then repeat for 17 pages of postings. You don't have to respond to the other posts that point out that you don't listen, understand, and repeat yourself, though. We can consider that covered here.

Sounds like you are saying that the ideas of Nazism cannot be defeated they can only be hidden & censored. That's a pretty sad commentary on British society.

Why don't you think the values of freedom and tolerance and respect can defeat the values of Nazism in an open debate?
Do you therefore hold that someone should be allowed to campaign i.e. use their freedom of expression to explain why and how this policy should be enacted and if legally enacted by the legislation and enforced by a fair judiciary would result in people being legally executed for simply existing?

Do I think idiots and morons should be able to campaign for forced euthanasia for the mentally ill?

Sure, go ahead. They will get very little headway.

Its better than arresting them and throwing them in prison for having and spreading stupid ideas.

...aaaaand he's back to prison as the only possible penalty.

eta: we actually had a now-banned member here recently that was jailed for tweeting that people should join him to hang non-specific judges. The tweety had no imminence, credibility, or was directed at any individual. Yet to the pokey he went.

Does it ever worry you that the parties that support your view all are populist/fascist extreme right wing, who want freedom of speech for themselves, but have made it clear that should they get to power they will:
A: Strip the civil rights of whole groups of people based upon skin color/faith
B: Limit free speech to a FAR greater extent than the current laws you rail against?

Not ignoring anything.
You've ignored my question:

What about for the execution of Jewish people?

Peacefully campaign for the forced euthanasia for the mentally ill, or black people, or Jews, or Muslims?

Yes.

They wont get much headway and their policies will never become law.

But as long as they campaign in a legal and peaceful way, their stupid ideas are welcome to be part of public discourse.

Would require amending the Constitution, of course.

Otherwise we have "benevolent authoritarianism" that burns books and criminalizes ideas, and that never works out well.

Unless one is lazy or stupid, and unless society has already fallen apart, bad ideas can and are always defeated on the battlefield of public debate and discourse.

That is where we draw a different line, I do not believe Nazis (nor anyone else) should be able to campaign for their polices if those policies are for legal execution of folk for simply existing or otherwise harming them, e.g. creating ghettos, concentration camps, forced labour and so on.

You really need to bone up on your history.

Not welcome. Tolerated, at best. If you welcome them, you are one of them.

*Chicago throws up hands at Hercules56*

What is this "constitution" he speaks of?
Not familiar with the US Constitution, huh?

Figures.

Here's a hint: its a REALLY important, hard to change law that makes most of your fears impossible to implement.
