Trump's Second Term

Well, Google, like all capitalist success stories, want to be part of the future oligarchy. There is no such thing as a benign mega corporation.
SO we are reduced to a choice between an oligarch and total government control...all in the name of people of course.
At least you are being honest in your dislike of private business.

"You should have seen jury selection! It was rigged" -- Eric Trump pushes a conspiracy theory that the juries who convicted his father were rigged by the government

He also recently claimed to have been in the room to witness the phone calls Trump made that ended several of the wars he bragged about.

No matter what you say Eric, Daddy still won't love you.

Hot on the heels of YouTube settling a law suit with Trump for $23m or so, Google has caved in.

While you can google “does Biden have dementia” and you get an AI Overview. When you put in “does Trump have dementia” you get no such overview (in Australia for certain and it looks from reports I’ve read, many other countries).

What really needs to happen is for rich and powerful companies stand up to the Bully in Chief. Instead we get cowardice from timid sycophants. Disgusting.

Trying it here (UK) I don't get an AI overview for either query now.

They've tweaked the results, it was happening:

Really shows how what we can find out via search engines is tightly controlled by Google and to a much lesser degree Microsoft.

I do see another Election - I don't see Trump willing to leave with being encouraged by the Military.
I am sure if there is another presidential election 99% will have voted for Trump!

(Only joking I am still - perhaps naively - hoping that the next election will be free and fair.)

By the way could Trump still be a Vice-President after his two terms as President? Could see him doing a Putin and "stepping down" until the constitution can be changed.

If it’s a free election, a fairly well behaved beagle would beat JD Vance.

YouTube clips about the government shutdown:
6:52 to 7:27:
– If there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the President of the United States. He's the one that has to get people together.
– The president's the leader, and he's got to get everybody in a room, and he's got to lead. ... In 25 years and 50 years and 100 years from now when the government is, you know, they talk about the government shutdown. They're going to be talking about the President of the United States, who was the president at that time?
– With Congress, you have to get everybody in a room, and you have to get them to agree. ... You have to get people in, grab 'em, hug 'em, kiss 'em, and get the deal done.

It really would have to be a Putin deal, in that he couldn't be as VP on the ticket - the elected VP would have to step down, and Congress would have to confirm him.

So what are the commentators saying about Trump's Fattiesburg Address to his Generarls?
Great Speech - or - Greatest Speech?

There's also the thing that's been talked about for years. The Speaker of the House has traditionally been a member of the House, but can be anyone they choose to nominate and who gets enough House votes. With sufficient Republican control of the House and a President and Vice President whose subservience to Trump is greater than their own desire for power, the House elects Trump as Speaker and then the President and Vice President resign, putting him back in office without violating the prohibition on being elected more than twice.

In a sense, the fact that Hegseth refers to "climate change worship" says it all. In a blizzard of stupidities insanities and perversions, that single phrase stands out as an indication of just how crazy things have become. When I was a kid I found Alice in Wonderland unsettling because it was hard to separate fantasy from the "what if" of being in it. And here we are, being handed a bottle of drink me and playing croquet with the red queen. We're ◊◊◊◊◊◊, aren't we?

It is a cold civil war, and might well turn hot, and it won't be anything like that stupid movie they made a couple of years ago.

If you’re talking about the relatively recent “Civil War”, I can think of better words to describe it than “stupid”. I thought it painted a conceivable portrait of how a civil war might play out in the U.S. And certainly not a pleasant portrait.

True when I tried it a moment ago.
