All you have to do is look at the 1950's/60 Republicans positions- by the 2000's they were basically where the Democrats in the US currently are, and the US right has zoomed off into lala land (literally and figuratively speaking)
The US left has moved RIGHT, and the US right has moved a LOT right....
Anyone claiming that the US even has a left- let alone a 'hard left' is cracra in the coconut....
Bernie Sanders for example (who was decried as being practically a communist by the US right) would in any other first world democracy, be a solid centralist, with minor rightwing leanings in some things.....
Here, he would be a comfortable fit in the Coalition here- our rightwing conservative parties, not really all that 'progressive' at all....
