I don't see the video in this list. I can believe he would post that, but I don't want to endorse some antivaxer's fake if that's what it is. Am I just missing it?

It's just a video on the mercury preservative in some vaccines. Mostly unnecessary.

Not a mercury preservative, Thimerosal is a compound that contains Mercury...the same way salt is a compound that contains two poisons---sodium and chlorine.

Unfortunately scientific illiteracy is pervasive because it's easy to shout MERCURY !!!!!!! and much more difficult to explain why it isn't an issue (without repeatedly mentioning mercury).

I know. But it brakes down to various things. I am chemist. Mercury preservative is just a simple way to say it. I use it all the time on social media, as thiomersal is hard to spell and it would take more and more lines to answer that it is a "chemical" or "compound." Or thio. "It has sulfur." Oh, they react.

It's not any random compound. It went through the usual medicinal chemistry discovery route but back in 1927. Make a bunch of compounds and test them:
Thiomersal's main use is as an antiseptic and antifungal agent, due to its oligodynamic effect. In multidose injectable drug delivery systems, it prevents serious adverse effects such as the Staphylococcus infection that, in one 1928 incident, killed 12 of 21 children vaccinated with a diphtheria vaccine that lacked a preservative. I don't go around saying "teflon is fluorine" as that would be very wrong. Teflon does not release fluorine, though it has some.

There is a whole history of injectable drugs and how to produce them. Compounding pharmacies have got away with making unsafe drugs, but a proper manufacturing plant would make a safely packaged drug. The most exopensive part of the process is to buy a piece of equipment that makes sterile water.

I know this, and you know this, but for the scientifically illiterate people who spend their time bleating about evil vaccines and "chemical" medicine, whatever cannot just be plucked from a tree, grown in one's own garden, or bought from a trusted guru/non official dealer, is unnatural and therefore poisonous.
I like to tell those people that rattlesnake venom is also natural but most of them don't make the connection either.
 
I'll have to reword my general term to "mercury based preservative." It tells a bit more to any chemist or biologist.

Mercury salts are the simplest to make (mercury metal does not work as preservative) but would have a problem in use. Injecting mercuric chloride in ethanol to a person would give a precipitate. You would show that by squirting it into water. It was once used for syphilis:

Here is a clip of what Rand Paul said at a recent Senate hearing. Senator Paul claimed that no healthy child died of Covid-19; in other words, the children that did die had an underlying condition. There must be something in common with all these mass shootings...but he just can't seem to put his mental finger on it just at the moment. Maybe he should ask his uncle, the former president, if anything ever went through his head about this subject.

OK, I'm in wimpy old UKia, so I don't have a gun, but I can introduce you to my very wide selection of knives, which are all very sharp...
