Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

I asked before - perhaps you missed it - but I would be interested to know what you think is the right way to go about solving this issue. How are we going to properly ensure that children don't see what they should not see?

1. Paywalls for porn.

2. Content must be tagged with the real names and addresses of people responsible for uploading it. This information must be provided to law enforcement on request. If that information is found to be fake then the platform is considered the publisher for legal purposes.

3. The algorithms for pushing content to users must be published by all platforms.

You want to dictate what forms of sex are permissable, based on your own notions. I'm just wondering how backwards you are, full Catholic or do you allow a little variety?
How does "people whose behaviour demonstrates they care about each other's wellbeing and pleasure" dictate a form of sex?

Selective quotation, eh? You said "vanilla sex". So anything you don't consider to be vanilla is bad, isn't it?

Context is important. Children seeing people having "vanilla" sex is not the problem. Children (and adults for that matter) being algorithmically led down a rabbit hole that leads to hundreds or thousands of examples of porn stars acting out coercive, rough and potentially lethal sex acts is of more concern.

Vanilla sex = people whose behaviour demonstrates they care about each other's wellbeing and pleasure.

And you're misunderstanding me. I'm objecting to Ivor's insisting that vanilla sex is the only acceptable sex. I disagree.
Proscribing sex with people of a certain age is still the barring of a certain sexual experience. Go to France and you can have sex with a 15 year old. Do it in the UK and you go to prison.

I don't think it will be long before the clamour gets louder for more freedom in this regard. Porn that features actors that look underage is having an effect - especially on children.

Unrelated to what I said, even after I specifically explained that. You don't actually read other people's posts, do you?

That doesn't follow from what I said, which is that I don't think viewing "vanilla" sex (as I defined it) is a problem, but other depictions of sexual acts (also defined) are when they are algorithmically pushed to users.

I have no interest in policing your or anyone else's bedroom.

I've known people who were into degrading acts and other to my mind disgusting acts, anything but vanilla sex - but both sides were consenting to it. That said coming across one of those types of videos you wouldn't see the "foreplay" that would demonstrate it is entirely consensual you'd just see the degrading and disgusting acts. However that is an extreme example but many people like to play act during sex - that is part of sex for them - and they like their porn to do the same - but to a more professional level.

People searching for a particular genre of porn is not the problem. What I think people have possibly missed or not understood is the "...being algorithmically led..." part before the example of what delicate souls such as myself would consider the extreme end of the porn spectrum. Finding one's kinks should be at a natural pace, preferably with feedback from sexual partners in the real world along the way.

Does the concept of privacy mean anything to you?
