Trump's Second Term

the BBB is giving ICE a bigger budget than the entire Russian Armed Forces. It pays for the creation of incarceration facilities for migrants, doubling the already insanely large prison capacity of the US.
Next going to be the homeless, then the unemployed - these are for profit facilities, so they must never be empty.

I just had a sinister thought. With crime going down in the States and prisons going empty, rounding up large numbers of 'illegals' would be a nice way to fill prisons again. Dough for the profit-driven prison industry, with ICE being modern-day slave catchers.

Jason Pargin reflecting on how crime is decreasing in the USA.

Apparently, the BBB isn't doing so hot in the House now that it has moved there. A handful of Republican reps in purple districts are getting the message that the BBB is not popular. In PA's Bucks county, there was a "die-in" at Representative Fitzpatrick's HQ and later he voted against advancing the bill (and fled the chamber). A number of hard right republicans are against it as well, but at least one changed to a yes.

The whole thing is a mess by Johnson who has been bending every rule trying to advance the bill. The plan seems to be to pressure Republicans to pass the bill as is and "fix" it later. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) told reporters: “Now we’re having to once again hear the line, ‘Let’s pass this and then we’ll fix it later,’ And we never fix it later, and America knows that.”

As of midnight the BBB did not have enough votes. Trump is demanding this bill pass by July 4th so he can sign it on the holiday and then tour the country doing rallies promoting the BBB.

And do what with the tens of thousands of people who have been held there ?

Any attempt to reintegrate them back into US society will be met with howls of Democrats being soft on illegals.

Three and a half years in a concentration camp will have had a huge effect on the inmates. They will require a lot of support - support that a majority of the US population have shown they don't want to give to brown people.
The ones that are still inside: give them $100 000, say sorry, and send them home.

Around 3 AM there were enough Republican caves for the bill to pass.

Correction - what passed was not the actual bill, but a motion to move it to the floor.

From a Trump tweet
Trillions of Dollars are now being invested into the USA, more than ever before.
Likewise, hundreds of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs are filling up the coffers of Treasury

Trillions of whose money? and "Hundreds of Billions in tariffs?" Can that possible in any sense be true? Seems like they could restore a lot of people's Medicaid if it's bringing that kind of revenue.
