Should sanctuary cities be tolerated?

Are we? You are positive those are the only cases? Because it was happening before the Trump administration. I imagine it is exponentially worse now. They have no idea who they are grabbing. How do you know?

Each day, maybe
I guess if you want to you can go ahead and baselessly assume that hundreds of thousands of citizens have been illegally detained

They don't. They usually pay FICA and income taxes. And frequently do not receive Social Security, Unemployment or other benefits. The idea that illegal immigrants are a drain on the budget or economy is not just laughably dishonest, it is sad....
There is a ton of evidence and research to show that they are in fact a drain on State and local resources.

Prove it.

Prove it.
Is Rueters a good enough source?

Undocumented immigrants paid nearly $97 billion in federal, state and local taxes in 2022, according to a July 2024 report, opens new tab by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), which used data on taxpayers with ITINs to estimate tax revenue.
The ITEP report said undocumented immigrants contributed $59.4 billion to the federal government, including payments for federal income tax and federal social insurance such as Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment Insurance.

Thanks. This is what so many Americans don't get. Most illegal immigrants are taken advantage of. They are either submitting phony SS numbers and paying into the system without any ability to receive from it. Or they're working under the table often at below minimum wages.

But I'm sure Hercules56 carefully vets everything he buys so as not to reward the companies using illegal labor. Every piece if fruit. Each egg. Checking each employee of his groceries in the entire process line. Etc etc.

The good old days.

Well, I was wrong about a member's fee to the colony; its been years since I gave my Great Uncle's situation much study. In fact, his indenture, like most others, was to pay for his passage over. The paperwork went to the ship's captain, who sold it for the best offer upon arrival. The buyer (or, in the southern colonies, highest bidder; literally at an auction) then owned the indentured person for a term of years, until the payment was AMPLY recovered.

Now there's a way to make immigration pay for itself! Instead of shabby old ICE, we can have the Indentured Servants Exchange, ISE, a cash & carry bidness to warm any capitalist's gizzard! Expanding your rooffing or landscaping biz? Need fresher help? Fill up a coffle or two at your local ISE barracoon! and smile smile smile with your good ole Uncle Sam! Applicable taxes and fees apply.

If the GOPers and MAGArs do not immediately demand Trump completely reverse his exemption of farm workers and hotel workers and restaurant workers from immigration enforcement, then they are proved to be absolutely hypocrite liars who don't give a damn about the immigration issue. It's really disgusting that day would allow an exemption so as to make sure their poll numbers are not hurt.
Yes, they're hypocrites and liars, water is wet, more news at 11.
