General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Farage missed the EU debate because he's on holiday.

He justifies it by saying it's the first foreign holiday he has had for three years.
Recess is next week.

He’s made NINE trips abroad, eight of them to the USA since the Election, many funded by donors, some for other paid jobs.

Keep up, Andy! I already did that one, complete with linnk to Teh Graun.

Who'd a thought? Yaxley-Lennon charged with harassment?

Oh dear, there, there, never mind.

And still awaiting another trial next year...Anyone who didn't know about him might imagine that he is some class of career criminal.

PMQs is an embarrassment. I saw a bit today and it reminded me why I now rarely watch the news or post here. I find politics a complete turn off.

Sir Keir Starmer has announced plans to ease cuts to winter fuel payments, in a U-turn following mounting political pressure in recent weeks.

More than 10 million pensioners lost out on the payments, worth up to £300, when the pension top-up became means-tested last year.

Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions, Sir Keir said ministers would change the threshold to allow "more pensioners" to qualify again.

But it remains unclear how many will regain their entitlement for the payments, or when the changes will take effect.

Sir Keir said the policy would be changed at the autumm Budget, adding ministers would only "make decisions we can afford".

As well as Deputy Leader, Grimes is the Cabinet member for Finance, Legal Services, Democratic Services, Risk Management, Human Resources, Transformation and Council Member Development.

I was going to say that nobody of note has ever come out my my school - a perfectly good local comp in rural WIltshire. But it turns out that the latest First Sea Lord, General Sir Gwyn Jenkins (KCB, OBE, ADC) went there. So that's one.

Durham Council leader Andrew Husband is renaming departments to remove references to climate change, equality and inclusion. The previous neighbourhood and climate change department is now neighbourhoods and environment, while equality and inclusion has been changed to stronger communities and belonging.

He also says "It may be that over the next four years, hopefully a lot sooner, we do look at random projects or irrelevant projects that don't fit in within our objectives. Naturally, if projects start getting closed down, the resources are less required, but I'm hoping for more of a case of redeployment than mass firing across departments."

He also says Potholes will be repaired within 24 hours of being reported and there will be no council tax increase next year.

I wonder how much it will cost to replace all the stationary and signs etc for the changed departments?

They are scared of words?

It's what people voted for.

It's one of their big manifesto pledges.

Remember Nigel told council staff working on diversity or climate change to look for "alternative careers".
In "community support" and "environment". Or it could also be "helping the old and poorer folks" and "not ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ up the weather so much". But that won't fit in the letterhead.

And I'm the Queen of Sheba. Or maybe he's getting his hours mixed up with his years.
