Trump's Second Term

It is interesting, in a horrible sort of way, to see the deterioration. Like some others here, my mom also had Alzheimers, for quite a long time. It took some time to settle in, because she had a lot to lose, and she faked it for a while.

My mom got more impatient and temperamental and narrower-minded - unpleasant character traits once suppressed sometimes bubbled back up, but she was mostly the same person she'd always been, and that person had been one of generosity, character and substance. In Trump's case I suspect there never was anything but flamboyant egotism, stupidity, pettiness and cruelty to start with, and losing any restraint of politeness or circumspection that might have concealed it just makes it that much more visible.

You know how it was meant.
For years and years we get this 'Oh, look what he just said' 'Look what he just tweeted', 'It get's worse and worse'.
Almost on a daily basis. For years.

So, is it really getting worse? Just because every ◊◊◊◊ he is spitting into the world replacing the previous ◊◊◊◊, doesn't make it look like he is getting worse. It's just his usual agitating, propagandistic, hatefull, lying ◊◊◊◊. For years. How many times over the years have I heard 'He's losing it' etc. And yet here we are, him still going on with his ◊◊◊◊. And every now and then the media chimes in (as long as there isn't a ship colliding with something...) and makes a headline of Trump's newest ◊◊◊◊, acting like it's one of the first times, like they have Alzheimer's.

And it is going on, over and over and over and over...

Not until it is safe to jump on a passing bandwagon, then claim to have been riding it since birth.

Apparently, maximizing shareholder value to the exclusion of abiding by regulations and paying taxes is not the wonderful underpinning of economic freedom the Right has been selling for decades. Abiding by the state charter that granted the right to conduct private business in the public's economy isn't a thing because, let's face it, corporate charters are a total joke; nothing to comply with. All boards of directors of publicly traded companies, and/or those with, say, more than 100 employees or >= million dollars in sales, should face mandatory compliance audits with 3rd party firms who are banned from providing any other consulting or advisory services (true "arm's length" auditing), said audits extending to financial and legal compliance. Penalties for lawbreaking should end shareholder immunity from lawsuits, which means, say, oil spills owing to negligence will empty rich boy pockets. Do that, and you have yourself a much more honest ball game.

This is not to mention the lie at the heart of Micro Econ 101. The chalkboard abstraction called "free markets" is a 'should', not an 'is'. Bad science from day one. Maybe Latin should be taught in public schools again, if only to teach what "ceteris paribus" means, for god's sake.

My theory was always that most of the media didn't want Trump to win, but there were no eyeballs in covering a foregone conclusion. They sane washed him (& played up concerns over Biden) to keep the race closed enough to be a story assuming people would vote sensibly when it came down to it.. and it backfired spectacularly.

China made similar promises to Trump in his first term for not getting sanctioned, and they never actually did buy what they said they would.

As the comments note, the fletchings on a few arrows are on fire while others are not. First, that’s not how fire-arrows work, duh. Second, that says the arrows are clearly fake with a few "torched" for a more dramatic photo/image. Third, the arrows have all the same length sticking out regardless of angle, which would be entirely unreal. Fourth, all the arrows seem to have come at them from left or right only, none front or back. And add a bit of fake blood ketchup, of course.

That same picture has been doing the rounds in the right wing christian blogosphere for at least the last decade. And note how the mother is sacrificing herself for the son. It's never father for daughter.

I have to agree. Each time he says some crazy thing "he's getting worse". But then you see something he said years ago and it turns out he was always worse.

Since he doesn't speak in coherent sentences we have always had to interpret whatever his meaning was, even though it's generally clear it's something vicious and horrible, so it's hard to pin down any mental decline as there's such a vague record of what he was actually thinking despite his constant tweeting.
