General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Well James Bond is a close friend of Hannibal Lecter, presumably he put Trump and Bond into contact with each other.

It depends on what ye've given away in the US deal. I would not be at all surprised if massively lower standard US meats will flood the UK market.

Starmer said there would be no watering down of food standards with this measure, with imports of hormone-treated beef or chlorinated chicken remaining illegal.

The real win here could be that this agreement on tariffs will keep the US sweet whilst leaving the door open to a substantive deal with the European Union.

By maintaining UK food standards and not, for example, accepting hormone treated beef or chlorinated chicken, a "full fat" food and farm export deal with the EU, similar to Switzerland's, is now clearly on the cards in the next fortnight. This could slash post Brexit red tape for key exporters both ways.

Then you have an overall picture of a growing economy, with good trade relations with the US, EU, India and soon the Gulf too, with rates being cut.

The Government will try to project the UK as an oasis of trade and political stability in a tumultuous world, after years of turmoil. It is a world away from the recessionary negativity at the turn of the year, and it might just work.

It's already been said food standards haven't changed

Remember this isn't a new trade treaty it's just Trump easing some tariffs in exchange for what is effectively nothing.
Even the car quota allows the the same number of cars as go to the USA anyway

Well, as I say, it's not a trade treaty, it's just blowing smoke up Trumps arse.
What used to be called ' a bit of the old soft soap'
It seems Starmer and his team know how to make Trump work, they laid the groundwork a few months ago by getting the King to invite him to tea.

But don't expect the right wing media to give them one iota of credit.

Darren has proudly stated he will not be attending two council training sessions even though they don’t actually exist.

As I posted on election result day he said “I will not be attending DEI training or climate change training. I do not believe in anti-white racism or making my voters colder and poorer.”

North Durham MP Luke Akehurst posted

I took a look at the training programme for new Durham County Councillors. There aren’t training sessions on either of the subjects Darren is refusing to attend.

James Cleverly🇬🇧
@JamesCleverly

🚨Labour government negotiations latest🚨
Is it just incompetence? Or is the Labour government trolling the whole country?
Higher tariffs from the USA than when the @Conservatives were in government, despite this “trade deal”

Clearly he has worked out that Starmer alone caused Trump to set massive trade tariffs on the whole world. Must have been something he said when they met. What other reason could there be?

In his next brilliant pronouncement, Cleverly will reveal that, under this Labour government, internet fraud is much higher than it ever was under the Thatcher government.
