General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Some in Darlington has driven a JCB through a row of almost finished social housing.

According to the lunatic right it was to stop the immigrants being moved in.

All the gammons are jumping on it. Better to have no houses than give them all to the Muslims.

Durham Police haven't got a suspect yet.
A council spokesman said "The Neasham Road site is part of our ambitious programme to build hundreds of much-needed social homes and it's disappointing, to say the least, that this has happened.
It will delay the completion of much needed good-quality council homes and is a blow to the dedicated council team that is building such excellent houses."

Interesting little snippet from the Reform UK PLC's Lincolnshire mayor.

"Inch by inch we will return Britain to it's glorious past"

Nothing forward looking, just a promise to return Britain to a rose tinted past that never actually existed. If course she'll do sweet FA for the residents of Lincolnshire.

That's straight out is Stanley's How Fascism Works. One of the hallmarks of fascism is the desire to recreate a "mythic" and "glorious" past, which involves excluding those they believe to be inferior because of their ethnicity, religion, and/or race.

I see the BBC are continuing with their policy of singing, "I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby" to the leopard, in the hope that this will somehow prevent it from eating their faces.
 
Andrea Jenkins won the Greater Lincolnshire Mayoralty, her acceptance speech was a litany of self pitying grievance against her opponents.

Labour have held Doncaster, West of England and North Tyneside, but with some razor thin majorities.
 
Labour down just 13 councillors but they lost the by-election as well.

Still, not the wipeout Reform were predicting.
But, the Tories lost big time.

I think Nigel is right, Reform are the main opposition party now, the Tories are in a death spiral.
 
Gammon accounts on X already saying Starmer is humiliated and had to resign and we have to have a new general election now.
 
Labour numbers look better than they would have done if the majority of councils involved in these elections had been Labour majorities rather than Tory.

The Mayoralty results were holds for Labour. I'm seriously worried that the only way Reform Ltd voters will learn how bad a government they'd make it is to win.
 
I've said before about the woman I spoke to once who literally told me she'd voted 'for Boris' (we weren't in the constituency he was standing in that election) as a protest about the previous decade of government and she was genuinely shocked when I pointed out she'd voted Tory as a protest against the Tories.

We're now at the level of insanity where Reform voters are casting their votes for a Tory enobled peer and former member of the Tory government as a Reform candidate in order to punish Labour for the effects of 14 years of Tory government of which she was a part.

I'm giving up on humanity.
 
Is there anyone more repulsive than Andrea Jenkyns who claims she speaks 'for the silent majority' re immigration? I like how racists always assume everyone is as equally racist as themselves. Recalling a time at a bus stop when some woman started chatting to me about how the UK was 'full up' and looked surprised when I challenged her.
