Cont: Musk, SpaceX and future of Tesla II

Question is .. can Musk (and his companies) go back ? Is Tesla completely lost ?
If Musk wasn't involved then the reputational issues could be addressed but they still have the considerable issues of an ageing model lineup, distractions like robots and robotaxis and intense competition, especially from China.

No. It's too big to be completely lost. It's got a very good charging network and good batteries. Provided it can survive long enough to release new models, it has a chance.

However, if Musk leaves, there will be an adjustment to the share price. That will make it more vulnerable to being taken over and also, if it has loans collateralised by shares (like Musk does) they may find themselves struggling with margin calls (like Musk will).

I think the most likely outcome after Musk leaves is that another car company will buy it.

Has it still got valuable IP that makes it worthwhile another company buying it? Thinking of it I suppose a lot will depend on how much debt Musk would leave it with if he were going to leave.

Would musk care if a Chinese EV manufacturer bought him out?
Or perhaps use the proposition of a foreign acquisition to get Trump to bail out an American car manufacturer ( and then dump his shares).

It may also have some brand value (though clearly Musk has damaged that significantly). If MG had brand value, then likely so will Tesla.

As I said, it has a charging network, which I gather is quite good. I'm also led to believe that its battery technology is good (although that may just exist in the form of a right to use Panasonic battery technology). It has assets in the form of a number of car factories and cars not sold yet(!). There's also the brand, although that will obviously be affected by Musk leaving. The 2025 Q1 figures show a decline in production and deliveries overall of about 13% but that means they are still selling quite a lot of cars.

True but the amount of cars sold has been declining rather rapidly, and with nothing new coming out of Tesla and the CEO becoming completely toxic to the bulk of America, I don't see things getting better.

Tesla's real problem is they never adjusted well to having real competition in the EV market, for a long time the term EV and Tesla were pretty much the same, that is no longer the case. They now have to compete for EV customers, and they have never really come to grips with that.
BTW the parallels between Musk and Henry Ford are becoming stronger by the day. FOrd also, in the tweens of the last century, had real problems
when the Model T Ford got real competion in the popular priced auto market. Tye competitiors brought out better cars, but Ford refused to amdit the Model T's day were done, and he almost went bankrupt.
And FOrd also became toxic though his antics and thrist for personal publicity.

There's trouble in paradise, apparently. Drumpf wants Ernst Röhm, sorry, Elon Musk, out.

Dump announces Musk will leave soon. To El Salvador, hopefully. Night of the Long Fangs soon?
The Wisconsin fiasco seems to have been the straw that broke the Camel's back. Many sources report that the Trump political advisors were horrified by the town hall, considering it to be pure amateur hour and saw the whole passing out checks would backfire horribly.

Yes but my post was part of a thread in which Musk has hypothetically already left Tesla. That's why I'm ignoring his toxic influence.

Strange. Did they have a problem with that before?
Did they know nothing about Elon Musk?
For that matter, did they know nothing about Donald Trump?

What on Earth could they be expecting when pretty much everyone with a TV, or a smartphone or an internet connection or contact with the outside world already knew what Elon Musk would be do?

You haven’t been reading those blogs by concerned GOP people who are “concerned” again have you?

When someone who every door opens to, someone no one ever says no to hits reality he really doesn't like it.
