Trump's Second Term

Why Brits hate Trump:

So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man. This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss.

Saab are pitching hard to Canada to choose their Gripen which will be built and maintained in Canada.
However there are reports the USA can veto sales as all choices have some US technology - in the Gripen's case the engine.
Yeah, the US could scuttle the sale. (I wonder if they would really be that petty....)

The Rafale or Eurofighter might be an option (I think its largely made in Europe, although it would be more costly.)

I think the most reasonable scenario is to just reduce the number purchased. We originally planned to buy 65, until the Liberals messed up the purchase and committed us to 88. If we go back to the number we were going to buy in the first place, it would still send a message.

REPORTER: Canada's PM says they will be implementing retaliatory tariffs. You said if that were to happen, you would be responding with large-scale tariffs. Will you be following through?

TRUMP: Absolutely ... we have liberation day on April 2
