*You* don’t have a president (“my president”); *you* don’t not have a president (“not my president”). Claiming one or the other to be true is more than a distinction without a difference, it makes no sense whatsoever.

People are joking that SNL should do a sketch of Eisenhower planning D-Day over a chat app and finding out there is a German journalist in the group.

Some folks have already made memes doing that.

True. There's almost too much to absorb on a daily basis, from the outrages over likely illegal firings, deportations, axing of aid programs, proposals to ethnically cleanse Gaza, to strong-arm Ukraine into surrendering to Russia, to invading Greenland and the Panama Canal, to attempts to annex Canada, putting up tariffs on allies, tanking the stock market, oh, and doing a rug pull on a memecoin, pumping up Tesla stock by the administration, etc....

Hard to focus on one thing, and yet that really is what the Democrats (yeah, I know. The who?) ought to do.

One point brought up by this is that the reason for using Signal and other unofficial comms is that it removes a paper trail from the archives. Makes you wonder what else is going on that they don't want to put their names to in official documents.

Don't argue with me--I never said he was not "my" president. I agree with you lol. But for arguments sake, if it has to be one or the other, I'd rather agree with the "not" statement than the yep, he's mine one. ;)

I know this is probably rather naive, but... isn't there laws about official US records? The recording and securing thereof? And the penalties for breaching security?

And are those laws the basis of many, many spies going to jail or even being executed in the past?

So how about arresting, trying, convicting and executing one or two of these people in the leaked chat? As an encouragement to the others?

Amazingly, even on Fox, after they tried to headline it as "Hesgeth says no war plans discussed" all the comments (which are usually all MAGA) are blistering.

I think what has to happen first (since Trump and Hesgeth are clearly in the "it never happened" mode) is to put them under oath in front of congress and see how they respond.

Why are people talking about firing Hegseth? All of these morons participated. Hegseth's participation is the least objectionable because, out of the bunch, he's widely regarded as the most regarded.
