Trump's Second Term

Steel and Aluminium tariffs on Canada to 50%
Canada can have the tariffs removed if they become the 51st state
Threat of massive tariffs on Canadian Automobiles
National Emergency because of Canadian electricity

I wonder why the market is falling again today?
Deport him; he's committing economic terrorism.

Donald on Canadian electricity
How could Trump possibly have known anyone he arbitrarily decided to bully and extort might have anything to use as leverage in return?

"I didn't think tariffs would eat my face" said the guy who decided to unleash a pack of face-eating tariffs whose favourite flavour turns out to be orange.

Carney responds

Mark Carney
@MarkJCarney
President Trump’s latest tariffs are an attack on Canadian workers, families, and businesses. My government will ensure our response has maximum impact in the US and minimal impact here in Canada, while supporting the workers impacted.

My government will keep our tariffs on until the Americans show us respect and make credible, reliable commitments to free and fair trade.

I do wonder why legitimate news sources keep going to these pressers, when it's obvious that the press secretary is lying through her teeth. I mean, most of what trump does, is announced through his social media account anyway.
Because attending the White House Press briefing is their job. They have to report on what the White House says, even if it an obvious load of dingo's kidneys.

A better question to ask is why don't Democrats hold a daily Opposition briefing? Pick a bright, charismatic liberal like Psaki or Buttigieg to run it and run it every day. Let reporters ask questions and try to give them answers. Even if Dems don't have any power, the media would run with it.

But would they? The media has different standards on how they treat Dems and Maga/Nazis.

Sure they would. They might be hostile to Democrats, but if a few liberal news outlets like BBC or Al Jazeera started reporting on the Opposition breifing, the so-called "mainstream" news agencies wouldn't really have a choice.

Maybe. I'm sure the coverage would be dwarfed by their coverage of the Trump Regime. So much so that only the few of us paying attention to politics will see it.

Waltz: "The president has decided to lift the pause on aid and our security assistance to Ukraine going forward. And that's effectively immediately."

I'm skeptical this will hold. Also, maybe the damage is already done and Putin has what he needs to win his war on Ukraine. I suspect Trump gave Putin all of the USA's intelligence on the situation.

I hope he gets a fair hearing. I'm sure the Nazis have no evidence to support their claims that this guy is supporting Hamas. If so, I hope he files suit and takes The Regime for the maximum he can get.

USA blinks first

Doug Ford
@fordnation

Please see a joint statement from United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and myself:

Today, United States Secretary of Commerce @howardlutnick and Premier of Ontario Doug Ford had a productive conversation about the economic relationship between the United States and Canada.
Secretary Lutnick agreed to officially meet with Premier Ford in Washington on Thursday, March 13 alongside the United States Trade Representative to discuss a renewed USMCA ahead of the April 2 reciprocal tariff deadline. In response, Ontario agreed to suspend its 25 per cent surcharge on exports of electricity to Michigan, New York and Minnesota.

"They will pay a financial price for this so big that it will be read about in History Books for many years to come!"
He's wrecking the economy to satisfy his ego, which will never be satisifed.

My lord, this is getting beyond scary. I feel sick thinking about what may be just around the corner for the United States. :eye-poppi
