Trump Supporters: What could he do to lose your support?

Wow, no actual Trump supporters responded. Just people who dislike Trump, speculating about the motives of others.

I guess that means this forum doesn't have any Republicans. Or at least not the MAGA ones, I will venture to say.

@The Don and @theprestige have it right. It's an oddball question to put out, and likely would result in dissecting whatever a Trump supporter concedes to into a gotcha or whattaboutism.

What line would I have to stop supporting, say, President Biden? I dunno. Attacking the capitol during an election certification? Sure. But exactly where some meaningful lesser line would be gets weird to answer.

I think the intersection on a Venn diagram of the groups that identify as MAGA supporters and those interested in critical thinking and debunking conspiracy theories is rather small.

Part of the problem in my case is that I stopped supporting Trump sometime during his first presidency. What I didn't do, though, is immediately turn around and start supporting the Dems.

I've talked about all of this openly on this forum, over the years. And I've consistently gotten nothing but bad faith and vile abuse in return. Now @ThatGuy11200 complains that he's bored because I won't give him the entertainment he craves.

Meanwhile, the rest of the usual suspects can't help but run through their usual catalog of insults and disparagement. I'm not sure what Trebuchet expected, but he probably should have expected exactly what happened.

Well, yes and no.

Here's an ironic defense of Republicans.

I'm from New York City, a fairly Democratic city in a Democratic state. Walking down the street, you see a million so-called "psychics" or tarot card readers or something. That's what the left is into (and I say that as a left-winger myself.)

Another thing. Anytime you hear someone talking about how "Bush did 911" or how yoga and veganism cures autism or something like that, it is always a liberal.

For me it's just not a question I could answer meaningfully in advance if it were asked about candidates I support. It requires me to imagine something that hasn't yet happened and may never happen, and then to anticipate a sort of reckoning of moral equivalence when something else actually does happen. I think it's fair only to ask in retrospect. For example, I can say that the moment Joe Biden lost my support is when he blue-screened in the debate. But it's not as if I drew that line ahead of time and would have been able to answer it ahead of time with confidence.

My support for the Biden administration wavered over its tenure, but while I can point to things I didn't like (e.g., slow-walking the Donald Trump prosecutions), I have to honestly say I still supported it overall as the lesser of two evils. There may not be a bright line over which Trump has to step in order to trigger a disproportionate shift in support.

Crazy is a deep shade of purple.

Yep liberals like Alex Jones, who is a god chosen prophet. Ok not the veganism it would be colloidal silver for Jones, he is way into meat and veganism does not move the supplements right.

Entertainment? Your ignorance of my feelings doesn't give you a license to make ◊◊◊◊ up.

well if you ask me the dems being ◊◊◊◊ was a nice problem to have

I've discussed my politics at length and in good faith on this forum. I may do so again. But that's not what you want. You want a chew toy.
If it's that easy to destroy, maybe you should consider not giving the dogs a toy so easily chewed up. Don't throw it a stuffed bunny; throw it a Nylabone.

The hard core MAGA will blindly support Trump.
The other Trump voters are a different story.
There are sing that buyer's regret is beginning to set in.

I think most Congress Republicans are scared of Trump and Musk, which is reason why they support him.
There is very much a "don't be the first guy who stops clapping" atmosphere in what they say and do

Which raises two questions in my head.

First why did you support Trump in the first place? Was it party loyalty, ignorance of his horrible treatment of other people his entire life or knowledge of the latter but a hope that him becoming president would change him into a better, more competent man?

Second, what thing(s) did he do or not do that turned you off him?

If you've already answered the above questions somewhere else on the forum could you point me in the direction of your post(s).
