To be honest that you are stuck in the past, what you think is the republican party you say you support no longer exists. You would be better served if you want to stop people associating you with the republican party of today something like "I used to be a republican but the party moved away from me". Still labelling yourself a republican today is identifying with the republican party of today - i.e. Trump et all.
