Trump's Second Term

You seem to be trying to make the point that they want the Democrats to actually do the deed, of course. Certainly, but that rather ignores reality, though. The GOP has, quite literally,
been attacking SS and the like for a long, long time.

If they renamed Social Security as 'SS', I'm sure they'd get a lot more Republican support for it.

I think Trump wants to invalidate Treasury Bonds held by China.
He has a right to be scared. Think things are bad now? If Japan and China call in their debts, the US will be flat broke in a twinkling.

As of April 2024, the five countries owning the most US debt are Japan ($1.1 trillion), China ($749.0 billion), the United Kingdom ($690.2 billion), Luxembourg ($373.5 billion), and Canada ($328.7 billion).

I never understood that, the gold would still be there ( if it wasn't vaporised).
It's not like it's moved around actually used for anything.
In the novel, they do aim to to steal the gold. In the movie they switch to the idea of a dirty bomb contaminating it instead.

Which gives Bond that silly line about how the gold would be radioactive for <thinks> 57 years. And Goldfinger replies 58, actually. So it would have stopped being radioactive in <checks calendar> 2022.

Apart from contamination would gold actually be radioactive?

Gold has 40 radioactive isotopes.

Here is an interesting article on radioactive gold; https://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/2003-03/1046983737.Ph.r.html
Gold has only one stable isotope, so all natural gold has an atomic weight of about 197 (called Au-197), and this isotope has a reasonably high neutron activation cross-section. So exploding a nuclear weapon would probably lead to a lot of radioactive gold. However, there is only one isotope of gold that has a half-life of more than a few days (Au-195, 186 days), and it is impossible to produce this isotope by neutron irradiation. So any radioactive gold would lose its induced radioactivity within a month or so.

Dial down the bickering and namecalling, please.

Like I said, it may not be about cutting social security, but it could lead to privatizing it.

Someone with access to the Social Security Administration's databases could delete peoples' earning records, making them ineligible to receive Social Security benefits.

Tens of millions of people claiming social security and they aren't even alive!

ELon Musk
@elonmusk

Bruh, if I wanted to rummage through random personal ◊◊◊◊, I could have done that at PAYPAL. Hello???
Having tens of millions of people marked in Social Security as “ALIVE” when they are definitely dead is a HUGE problem.
Obviously.
Some of these people would have been alive before America existed as a country. Think about that for a second …

So President Elonia has released their own chatbot, which from the looks of it is an edgy version of ChatGPT for manchildren.

(Something was lost in translation here, the original version doesn't say it's better than ChatGPT, but that it's a lot more... Unseemly and inappropriate than ChatGPT, basically.)

As a side note, Grok really sounds like the name of some gross troll or villain in a fantasy series, so I'd say the name fits.

Someone should let Trump know, so that he can make war on Luxembourg. When the U.S. wins, that will cancel the debt. At that point Canada will beg the US to become the 51st state, getting rid of more debt. What could be simpler?

Okay, I thought about it for a second. I don't think there are people who have been receiving social security payments since before there were social security payments.

I wish the super genius would lay off with the hyperbolic "Why, if this is true then it means..." posts and spend a moment longer thinking harder about the "if this is true" part.

He does it multiple times a day, he doesn’t care as long as it supports his narrative.

He's been reposting a story about a gang of immigrants attacking a hospital in Birmingham (UK) and smashing equipment, stealing property and assaulting and terrorising staff and patients. It was all over the Gammon posts in the UK, complete with a picture of axe welding thugs smashing in the doors.

It never happened and the picture is from Dark Night Rises.

The word "grok" was coined by Robert Heinlein in "Stranger in a Strange Land", where it meant to fully understand something on a fundamental level, or something like that.

In universe, it's the Martian word whose etymology is "to share water with." In Martian lore this would equate to deeply relating to someone or something. It's been part of hacker slang for decades, and accurately describes what Elon Musk either can't or won't do with just about anything.

Musk has a serious bone to pick with Open AI.

Whose SS will Musk cut? Since he can't pass laws, he can only target individuals

'Not true': CNN panel shuts down GOP operative as he misquotes Social Security claim

Republican operative Brad Todd on Tuesday tried to pass off false information on CNN about Social Security payments — but was quickly shot down by fellow panelist Elliot Williams.
"We also know that the inspector general and the Biden administration noted that there has been $8 billion of wages reported for people over age 100," Todd said.
Regardless, Todd baselessly claimed that Americans were grateful to Musk for trying to cut government even if it was based on false pretenses of mass fraud at the Social Security Administration.

"Every election, people come to Washington and they promise the people they were going to shrink government or find waste, fraud and abuse, it almost never happens," Todd said. "It's happening this time. That's why President Trump's approval ratings are better than they've ever been."
