Trump's Second Term

FAMA is Pure Evil!

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

Under Biden, FEMA took money AWAY from Americans in need of disaster relief and spent it on 5 star hotels for illegals.

Pure evil.

They told us FEMA had NO money for Americans on Maui
NO money for Americans in East Palestine, Ohio
NO money for Americans in Western North Carolina
BUT FEMA HAD AN EXTRA $1 BILLION TO SPEND ON ILLEGALS??
WTF? This is CRIMINAL!

Obviously this won't work in the US because reasons, but here where the 1c and 2c coins were eliminated, for cash transactions you round to the nearest 5c. So sometimes you underpay, sometimes overpay and it all evens out.
In Denmark we have also done away with the smallest coins in the same way, but it seems that prices on average went up, not down.
We still use the precise price with card payments, but people have complained that shop keepers still round up - for each individual item.

$1.99 gets rounded up to $2.00 here in Australia.

We got rid of our 1 and 2 cent coins many years ago.

This action of Trump's very surprisingly doesn't seem as godawful as anything else getting reported here.
Huh...interesting. Yeah I think people missed my point--the reason it is $1.99 here is that most people assume (psychologically) that $1.99 is a much better bargain than $2 so are more likely to buy. Which is why I said that $1.95 would be not popular with merchants cause that would be their only option--$2.00 is not an option because at least here, studies have shown people are far less likely to buy at $2 than $1.99.
I personally view $1.99 as "greater" than $2.00 because in my mind, 1+9+9 is 19 while 2.00 is just 2. :p But according to my wife that is either because I am "on the spectrum" or insane, or maybe both. I'm willing to consider either...

That Trump even thinks that the US can "own" Gaza is absolutely insane. But then to state that Palestinians can't live in Gaza and that he's going to completely demolish it and turn it into some kind of paradise is even crazier. He is beyond nuts.

We should have stopped minting and using the penny decades ago.
Indeed, of a the proposals so far from the Trump administration, this one gets the least argument from me. The prevalence of the "Take a penny, leave a penny" tray at many stores indicates that we already consider a matter of a few cents to be trivial.

I think the problem is that Americans are just weird about their coins. I have a Susan. B. Anthony dollar coin in my desk. That died for practical reasons: it couldn't be easily distinguished from the 25-cent piece. I also have a few of the "golden dollar" coins. They're not widely in circulation either. The American coin purse as presently constituted seems strangely immune to mutation.

Trump always conflates "America First" with "America Only". And by "America Only" he means "All For Trump".

Nonsense, things should stay as they are, 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a Dollar.
The gold dollar should have 21 shillings.

The fun fact is that these kind of exist. In colonial times, America used English money. You can find old examples of shilling and pound notes and coins issued by banks in, say, Massachusetts.

When I was a kid, penny candy was actually a penny. It buys nothing. Plus this will make my penny collection worth more.

Actually, here's two thoughts...

The Gazans should offer to sell the land to Trump, but with a price well to the north of $10 trillion USD. Negotiate this, arsehole!

Trump should indeed be sold Gaza...the one in Mozambique where the condoms were sent. He won't spot the difference.

I wouldn't put it past that lying, selfish, fat clown to sign an EO banning the use of cash.

That would prove interesting. I've been pondering just how, even his most ardent supporters were HE be the one that wanted to introduce the "Cashless Society", would they be cool with it then, because they sure hate the idea now.
