Trump's Second Term

Trump

"Marco is going to make clear to the Olympic Committee and he's gonna make it as clear as anybody can make it that America categorically rejects transgender lunacy. We want them to change everything having to do with the Olympics."

"My administration will not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes. And it's gonna end, and it's ending right now, and because when I speak, we speak with authority

"In recent years the radical left has waged an all-out campaign to erase the very concept of biological sex and replace it with a militant transgender ideology. You heard a little bit about this, haven't you? men claiming to be girls have stolen more than 3,500 victories."
"because when I speak, we speak with authority"

There it is, even with a royal "we".

Equally clear is the avowed goal of reforming (and largely eliminating) the traditional organs of power in the U.S. executive branch. President Trump has no intention of behaving like any other President, and no qualms about saying so. He is utterly uncowed by the public response to his behavior and has made no secret of his intention of making Institutionalists of both parties cry. The less addled of the administration (i.e., the architects and facilitators of Project 2025) are fully on board with this. Their explicit plan is to burn it all to the ground.
There I disagree. He wil back down if the backfire is big enough. He likes being popular.

Trump praises Tommy Tuberville for doing a great job as Patrick Mahomes's college coach, despite the fact he never coached.

"I said, 'How good was he?' He said, 'You don't want to know how good. He made me into a great coach.'"
He made up an entire conversation, Tuberville never coached.
Tuberville was at Texas Tech from 2010-12, Mahomes was there 2014-16.

Just another conversation that only took place in Trump's head? Aw....go on with ya!

I'm finding it hard to know what is real and what isn't these days. I go to bed and wake up to another assault on the institutions of democracy. I see a dictator at work who has the intelligence and foresight of a three year old. I see a system of checks and balances has abrogated their role in deference to a psychopath.

Let's be clear here. No other President in the history of the United States has acted like Trump has since he took office in this term. None. Not even close. The Constitution was not drawn up to facilitate this kind of behaviour.

He has shown no regard at for for the basic rule of law.

I feel the same. We are living through confusing and unprecedented times.

Growing up, I always wondered if the American empire would crumble during my lifetime. Now its happening right in front of my eyes and its frightening.

I posted this in the Australian Politics thread but it also belongs here.

A relevant excerpt:

Liberal senator Dave Sharma, a former Australian ambassador to Israel, was perhaps surprisingly, less diplomatic.

"He's not a conventional US President," Sharma observed. "The first thing that he says is not necessarily where the US policy ends up."

This is the quiet bit the government can't say out loud. What Trump says is not necessarily what he does.

"Something Trump's own team often says about him," Sharma went on, "is take him seriously, but don't necessarily take him literally and that would be the sort of mantra I would adopt here."

Note: in Australia the Liberal Party is actually the conservative party.

Just read the Rubio found out about Trump's GAZA idea watching TV...
This is going to end well.

Trump "thought" of it while he was talking to Netanyahu. I'm going to guess it wasn't a Donny original idea. ;)
Trump's own Chief-Of-Staff , Susie Wiles, during that press-conference-

I wouldn't say that that photo of a moment in time is necessarily accurately representative of what she's thinking, but she sure as ◊◊◊◊ looks like she's taking him both literally and seriously.

Heh! That photo says SO clearly: "WTAF am I doing here!"

There's also no indication of when that photo was taken. It could have been a momentary microexpression that had nothing to do with the drivel coming from Trump's piehole at that moment.

I see some pretty funny expressions when I press pause on Netflix too.

It is a funny pic, though.

Not to start any false Internet rumors or anything like that ("they're eating the cats and dogs!"), but...did you know that her hair was actually a dark brown just before that press conference began?

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for minority cadets. Some the Society of Black Engineers have existed for over 50 years.
