Matt Gaetz reported to be leaving the House

I am even more amazed how much support from Evangleicals Trump gets. He is playing them like a fiddle.
I'm not. A lot of them are cults wearing the clothes of the dominant religion.

If you fall for Jimmy Swaggart etc. you're probably not going to see anything wrong with Trump.

Enough of Trump's agenda aligns with their interests and even in the UK, I have met evangelical Christian woman who believe they should be subservient to men.

Problem, as always, is that Trump will not be happy when his flying monkeys can't get the job done.

Gaetz as AG? Will there be any lawyer not capable of blocking anything that dolt does for four years?
Trump will be very disappointed very quickly.
Depends on whether they end up in front of a Trump-appointed judge.

Republicans "stunned and disgusted" as Trump taps Matt Gaetz for AG

"Stunned"? "Shocked"?
C'mon, how could anyone be even mildly surprised? Trump 2.0 will be worse than last time.
Yes, some republicans will act all 'stunned and disgusted'. They will make comments (off the record) about how Gaetz should be avoided and how Trump is out of his mind to pick Gaetz...

And then they will line up in the senate to confirm him. (Or, let Trump put him in office via recess appointments)

Not nessecary. Gaetz has not been convicted of anything..yet.
I think its unlikely that Gaetz will be convicted of anything.

Years ago, when one of Gaetz' friends struck a plea deal, the guy's lawyer made some big deal about how "Gaetz should be feeling uncomfortable". But it seems like any sort of prosecution of Gaetz has (sadly) died.

(Not sure exactly why the prosecution didn't go forward with a case, but I suspect that the main witness, the woman he was allegedly involved with at 17, was considered a "bad witness", since she would likely consider herself "not a victim")

Ford pardoned Nixon before he had been convicted of anything. Apparently pardons can be preventive.
Also even if pardoning someone before conviction was illegal... so? Who's gonna stop Trump?

There is literally no political force in place right now to tell Trump no about anything.

"Trump has to stop doing that, the rules say so" was dumb before, it's suicidally stupid now.

sure.
But there is the Appeals process, so time is still not on Gaetzs/Trumps side.
Yes, stuff Gaetz does will get appealed... and probably end up in the supreme court... where Drunk McRapeface, the Stepford Wife, and Justice Pubic Hair will come up with some ruling allowing Gaetz/Trump to "win".

But you can as President?? Interesting...
Trump isn't

I'd say there is no force of any type. He will never have to hear the word "no", again... unless it's a "and he said to me 'no Sir you are not the greatest president we have ever had, you are the greatest president there ever shall be'"

Trump wants people who won't stop him when he wants to do something crazy. Nothing irritates Joffrey like Cersei whining in his ear "no, you can't execute everybody we know!"

One writer speculating that Trump thinks that Gaetz will go down, but thinks that will make the GOP almost automatically approve his next choice who will not have the baggage.
Problem is that Trump is not that clever.
I think Gaetz went down to get the job, in the same way Trump accused Harris of going down to become successful.

I don't know. It just takes 5 or 6 Gopers to vote against confirmation.

That report...we all know evenit they don't release it it will get leaked....is going to make interesitng reading.

Sorry, I just cannot buy into the Democracy is dead and there is nothing we can do about it narrative.
I also find a lot of simplistic view of how washington works.

Is this one of your "Ask me about the Civil War" posts that we aren't allowed to comment on for some reason?

Gaetz is not going to be confirmed, simple as that. Lots of Republicans are up in arms about this nomination, way more than the three senators needed to block it.
