Kamala Harris Election Campaign

Breaking news! "Kamala" is a Finnish adjective meaning -- get ready -- brace yourself -- put your coffee somewhere it won't spill --

GHASTLY or FRIGHTFUL

Okay, now it's broken news. Relax.
Kamala is a Sanskrit name meaning "like a lotus."

LOTUS for POTUS

I admit it's a tough choice. The career criminal, or the career criminal protected by the political establishment. As long as insider trading is legal for Congress, I make no distinction between Trump and his peers in high elected office in this country.

Also you hate me, and think I'm too stupid to have a vote, and if you had your way I wouldn't. So I feel no special urge to elect your favorite corruptocrat just because they're your favorite.
Trump is protected by the SC.
That should worry you way more than your Deep State fantasies.

But at least you achieved your highest goal: to feel like a victim - the aspiration of every Trump supporter.

At this point, Not Trump is a perfectly legitimate rationale. But I hasten to add Not Trump’s Sycophant Supporters as well. Lindsey Graham, MTG, Mike Johnson, Ramaswamy, the whole lot.

Kamala is the opposition candidate. But if it were somehow Lynne Cheney or Chris Christie or Linda Murkowski instead, I’d vote for them as many times as I could get away with.

Exactly! I can hardly imagine someone who's policy positions I detest more than Lynne Cheney. And still, this right wing Troglodyte would be far more deserving of my vote than Donald Trump.

But to be fair to Donald. There are some people throughout history that he would earn my vote over.

Let's see, there is Qin Shihuangdi, Caligula, Napoleon, Mohammed, Genghis Kahn, Vladimir the Impaler, Torquemada, Ivan the Terrible, Queen Mary, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Pinochet, Kim Jong Il just to name a few.

Kamala was here for her rally last night and matched Trump on making tips tax exempt. It's not surprising they did it here as we're the tipping capital of the known universe. It just comes off as pandering to me and is one of her proposals I don't support. The Culinary Union didn't support it when Trump floated it back in June.

I would go further and make tips not count towards an employee's standard wage (like the situation is over here).

I think I understand. If you're a Democrat with prior legislative experience you're corrupt and hence disqualified from office. OTOH if you don't then you're disqualified through lack of experience.

As Lauren Boebert once said about AOC: "She's just a bartender! What does she know about legislation?!"

Okay, she may not actually have said that, but I thought it was funny.

I'm sure they polled and focus-grouped this truly dumb policy. Harris' move on this is even more cynical than Trump's. It's all downstream of an even worse idea: the Electoral College.

Trump obsesses about crowd sizes more than anyone.

Now he's peddling an easily disprovable claim of photo manipulation:

Trump claims Kamala Harris rally crowd is FAKE as he posts 'AI doctored photo' - but all is not as it seems

'Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport?' he wrote. 'There was nobody at the plane, and she "AI'd" it, and showed a massive "crowd" of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN'T EXIST!'

'She's a CHEATER. She had NOBODY waiting and the "crowd" looks like 10,000 people!' he continued. 'Same thing is happening with her fake "crowds" at her speeches.'

'This is the way Democrats win Elections,' Trump argued. 'She should be disqualified because the creation of a fake image is ELECTION INTERFERENCE.

'Anyone who does that will cheat at ANYTHING!'

Other Republicans have made similar claims, with commentator Dinesh D'Souza telling his followers to 'check the reflection in the plane.

But there's independent videos that show the crowd is very much real. Looking at the photo is interesting. The surfaces are curved and the plane is probably angled relative to the camera.

Men and the size of things...

My sword is bigger
My gun is bigger
My car is bigger
My crowd is bigger
My wiener has the biggest mushroom

Trump's campaign: Doom and gloom.

Harris' campaign: Joy.

What a strange peice:

....snip...

And despite Walz insisting that smiles were more powerful than insults, he and Harris have continued their share of denunciations, decrying Trump’s conviction in New York on 34 felony counts in a hush-money case and his being found liable for fraudulent business practices and sexual abuse in civil court.

..snip...

Those are facts, not political spin, not mudslinging, not puerile insults, just sheer unadulterated facts.

About Harris’ promises…

I’ve been hearing a lot of “That’s fine, but how is she going to implement/pay for this or that”. Which are valid questions. But from affordable child care to $35 insulin to expanding the ACA, I view these as “aspirational” goals. But most of those goals roughly coincide with my vision of a better, more equitable country. So, worth working towards even if the path proves difficult.

But “NOT Trump” is still the overpowering reason I’ll vote Harris.

I suppose suggesting paying waitpersons a living wage is out of the question?

The solution that everyone knows is the real answer is to just remove the waitstaff exemption from minimum wage laws. The entire restaurant industry is going to scream bloody murder at the first mention of that, because too many of them rely on screwing their employees out of a living wage, so it's more of a sitting-president kind of controversy. Anything less than this solution should be taken as simple pandering to one group or another.

But just because it's pandering doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. That was Clinton's mistake when campaigning in the Rust Belt. A lot of people want politicians to come through and blow sunshine up their ass. Even if the ideas are clearly terrible it shows that the candidate understands the day to day predicaments that those local voters face and cares enough to suck up to them.
