General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

I think it's worth pausing to remind ourselves that, even if everything Spofforth claimed had actually been the case, there would still have been no excuse for attacking the homes, businesses and places of worship of people who happen to share some of those characteristics. I haven't noticed those thugs taking to the streets to attack the homes, businesses and places of worship of any native born white Christians who happen to live in their neighbourhood whenever someone who roughly fits that description kills a child.

Bonnie Spofforth, 55 has been arrested for her post

'Ali Al-Shakati was the suspect, he was an asylum seeker who came to the UK by boat last year and was on an MI6 watch list. If this is true, then all hell is about to break loose.’

Which was the lie that started it all.

Lies aren’t illegal, I can’t think what legislation that post is meant to breach, surely there was more to it?

Absolutely

I have to say that photo alone explodes the myth of white supremacy given that the police officer not prostrate on the ground has distinctly non Anglo-Saxon features and is probably thinking "you stupid bint".

Nothing personal, but ya'll across the pond suck at rioting.

But we rock at peaceful protest

Yes the police are separating the wannabe racist rioters from the peaceful counter protest

Yup.

I've been on more marches, demos, protest rallies and the like than I care to think about; I've picketed branches of Barclays back in the day; I've taken part in occupation of university buildings as part of a protest...

However, none of this ever involved any rioting, looting, burning, assaulting anyone...But then these were bunches (sometimes a very large indeed bunch) of lefty peaceniks, environmental weirdos, NHS workers and that type of person, who are more likely to clean up afterwards than anything else.

Context is all. The context here is right-wing code words, such as 'two-tier policing', 'all lives matter' and the fashion for the Twitter-X far right keyboarders, after every heinous crime, claiming the perp is a 'Muslim' or a 'Somalian', or similar, before the police even have a chance to give a press update. Spofforth cannot possibly have known it was a boat person called Ali Al-Shakita on the MI6 watch list so why even invent it or claim to have seen it somewhere, unless she was stirring up hatred, given the sheer number of people who view her posts?

If it was an MI6 issue (surely it would have been MI5, if anything...?) then it would be a serious matter for such a breach of confidentiality to occur. MI6 are hardly likely to spread their intelligence data on social media.

It'll be interesting to see if she can find the original source or not. If she is the original source then I can't sympathise with her, when others are getting long jail sentences for rising to the bait, coming swiftly on the heels of the Tommy Robinson 'Patriots' demo in London not long before the stabbings.

The maximum 36-hours police can hold a person in custody without charge has now passed and Spofforth is out on bail.

A woman who was arrested in relation to a social media post regarding false information about the suspect of the Southport attacks has been bailed.

Bernadette Spofforth, 55, was arrested on suspicion of stirring racial hatred by spreading false information about the suspect on X on Thursday.

Police said she was arrested for a public order offence under a 1986 law, and false communications, an offence created under the Online Safety Act 2023.

Under what law?

Police said Spofforth had been arrested on suspicion of publishing written material to stir up racial hatred, a public order offence under a 1986 law, and false communications, an offence created under the Online Safety Act 2023.

He posted tweets calling for mass deportation, and for people to set fire to asylum hotels. He tagged Northamptonshire police on his posts, and said he'd watched enough CSI to knew he would "categorically not be arrested".

Rumpole of the Bailey might have done him slightly more good.

So when does Farage get arrested? He posted videos of him and his cronies turning up at hotels holding asylum seekers?

And 30p Lee was posting pictures and addresses of hotels claiming they housed asylum seekers.

Both encouraged people to post locations of hotels and hostels housing asylum seekers.

Or nurses.

Farage is at home in Brussels this weekend.
Meanwhile he still hasn't set up a constituency office, responded to emails from constituents or said when his first surgery will be.
