No, they're a consequence of allowing the individual political parties to run the elections their represntatives are running in. If an independent authority was in charge ofe elections and rules in place to ensure equality of representation, most of the above would be removed from the political scene overnight. In free and fair elections Gatez et al would be absolute liabilities.

It is pretty apperent that almost all of his fellow GOP Hours members hate Gaetz's guts, and I think they are tryong to force him to quit, but it won;t work..Gaetz is that self centered.

With one big difference. The original loves little girls because they grow into beautiful adult women, Gaetz isn't into that.

There were ways to deal with Gaetz.

They could have acted to expel him from Congress. (I am sure they would have gotten enough democrats on-side to succeed). They could have removed all his committee assignments. They could have had him removed from various republican caucuses (even if he would still be a house member).

But they didn't do any of that that. (At least not yet.)

And its not like Gaetz's problems are recent...he has ties to neo-nazis going back to 2018. He was engaged in borderline witness tampering in 2019. The investigations into Gaetz for sex trafficking go back to 2020.

If republicans really hated him that much they had plenty of time to act against him. But they've only started their "investigation" at such time that even if they decide to act, its not going to be until the end of his current term.

So basically they're bringing it all back to what was reported in my OP? That's nice of them! It would be nice if they get something to the public by election time since I think this will truly have an effect on the outcome.

Would it affect the outcome? From what I read, the district he represents is solidly republican and he won the 2022 election with 67% of the vote.

There is a chance he could lose the republican primary. (I think his primary is in August.) But does he have any reasonable challengers?

Do the Republicans have any "reasonable" challengers anymore? Any "reasonable" Republican doesn't stand a chance in a primary.
