NZ Politics, the Luxon Era

You still aren't seeing the mistake you made are you?

I NEVER PROPOSED AUSTRALIA AGREE TO DO ANYTHING!!

What is it going to take for you to get it?

You said this:

a certain Australian born spree-shooter who killed 51 people in Christchurch in 2019 should be deported back to Australia

So now we have it. You simply post fantastical nonsense which has zero chance of being implemented and so shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Good to know.

You said this:...

Staggering! You actually quoted the text related to your mistake, and you still don't see its a mistake.

YES... I said "a certain Australian born spree-shooter who killed 51 people in Christchurch in 2019 should be deported back to Australia"... and yet you STILL think this is me telling Australia what to do.

The Christchurch shooter is an AUSTRALIAN citizen incarcerated in a NEW ZEALAND prison. If the New Zealand government decided to deport him back to Australia, there ain't Jack **** that the Australian government could to to stop it - he's their citizen and they MUST accept him. That is not me asking anything of Australia, that is not Luxon dictating to Australia what to do, that is the law.

At this point, I can only think that you are just acting out some performance art - pretending to be dumb.

So now we have it. You simply post fantastical nonsense which has zero chance of being implemented and so shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Reminder

Austria: https://www.politico.eu/article/austrias-plan-deport-convict-kosovo/

"The Austrian government wants to enable the transfer of convicted criminals from non-EU countries to serve their sentences in Kosovo."

Warning, this is a PDF
UK: https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CDP-2024-0023/CDP-2024-0023.pdf

Foreign national offenders can be removed from the country before the end of their prison sentence by way of a prisoner transfer agreement, or through the Early Removal Scheme or Tariff-Expired Removal Scheme.

Clearly, at least the Austrians and the British don't think its "fantastical nonsense which has zero chance of being implemented"

Wrong again. Australia has revoked citizenship of those guilty of far less offences than this guy. And it would do so with him in a microsecond if NZ was stupid enough to try this on. Which they won’t.

Like it or not, NZ would be the big loser in any dispute over a matter like this. Now I think Luxon is an idiot of the highest order, but he’s not that stupid.

Really, this is what you think?

OK, maybe we should strip all those NZ born people with criminal records in Australia so that they cannot be deported back to New Zealand. Nice bit of tit-for-tat that would really piss Tony off!

Go for it. And who the **** is Tony?

:dl:

Let me get a spade to help you keep digging that hole, mate.
An Australian-born citizen cannot be stripped of his citizenship unless he is a citizen of another country and has renounced his Australian citizenship, neither of which apply to Tarrant.

Maybe you should check out your own legislation: https://www.legislation.gov.au/C2007A00020/2018-12-29/text

Section 32 onwards.

Discussion over.

While you're at it, and NZ Politics is the name of the game, please set out your reasons why Luxon is an idiot.

I didn't vote for him and can't stand the bloke, but he's no idiot, and contrary to expectations, is actually doing a pretty good thus far.

You're very good at ******** on Kiwis - let's see some reasons to back up or your position, or it will confirm what I believe to be an unjustified dislike of people who add more value per person to your country than your heroic fellow countrymen do.

It's no surprise that the most-commonly heard word after "Aussie" in NZ is ****.

Mate, he doesn't even know the name of his own prime minister - how to you expect he would know anything about ours!?

Give me one single case of Albanese being called Tony. You’re the one who doesn’t know his name.

Utterly wrong. Many have been left stateless.

https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/foi/files/2022/fa-220200122-document-released.PDF

NOTE: Of these 59 persons, 16 had their citizenship revoked due to migration or citizenship-related fraud. Departmental reporting systems do not reflect whether these persons held dual citizenship, as revocation in the circumstances of section 34(2)(b)(i) and/or section 34(2)(b)(iii) of the Act is permitted even if it would render the person stateless.

I'm going to regret wading into this, but New Zealand can't deport someone to Australia unless Australia agrees to take them.

This is simply untrue.

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Dec. 19, 1966, art. 12(4), 999 U.N.T.S. 171 to which both Australia and New Zealand are signatories.

3(1), E.T.S No. 46 "No one shall be expelled, by means either of an individual or of a collective measure, from the territory of which he is a national."

3(2) No one shall be deprived of the right to enter the territory of the State of which he is a national.

Simply put, Australia is a signatory to an International Law that means they don't have any choice.

********. As you have conveniently ignored, Australia can revoke citizenship.

Besides, countries, including NZ, ignore International Law when it’s in the nation’s interests. It’s not like anyone is going to enforce them.

a. Australia has not revoked the Christchurch shooter's citizenship.

b. 3(2) No one shall be deprived of the right to enter the territory of the State of which he is a national.

Do you understand the difference between a National and a Citizen?

Take it up with the Department. He would be stateless, as per my quote above you ignored.

Pretty good at not putting his foot in it so far. That may be his only skill, but an important one for the leader of the National party. So long as another crisis requiring true leadership doesn't come up he should be fine.

It's no surprise that the most-commonly heard word after "Aussie" in NZ is ****.
I only knew two Aussies and they were both dishonest. But a friend of mine who was a fundamentalist Christian emigrated to Australia and committed adultery while over there. I suspect many of the Kiwis committing crimes in Australia are actually victims of a foreign culture. Australia turned them bad! ;)

I didn't ignore it, I read it and dismissed it because it was irrelevant.

If you were born in Australia, to parents who were born in in Australia, that makes you a Australian National (which is NOT THE SAME THING AS BEING AN AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN). Even if the Australian Government were to strip you of your citizenship, and make you stateless, you are STILL AN AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL. Even stateless people cannot be denied entry to the country of their Nationality. That is an article of International Law.

Article 15 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (to which Australia is a signatory) states that everyone has the right to nationality. To make this as simple as possible for you to understand, your citizenship can be revoked, but...

YOUR NATIONALITY CAN NEVER BE REVOKED, EVER!!
End . of . discussion!

Your bolding is utterly wrong. They are not allowed into the country. Full stop.
