Secession

But who will they blame for stopping things labor protections and expanding Medicare? Who will give cover to centrists to push the Overton window to the right?

It will be fairly painful for us as well, having to pack up and move all that stuff.

And I'm sure it will work out great for the poor and minority populations in those states.

not bombing them and taking their oil?

Once the red states are gone, we will have the majorities needed in Congress to push forward the Progressive agenda we want.

I suspect a lot of folks in the Red Deadbeat states will come to the USA when they see what a better society we have become.

Yes, we will buy oil from the Red Dead states, but also from other nations like we already do. I bet Canada will offer us a great deal!!

More poor and minorities for the USA? Is that a bad thing? What's wrong with non-white people?

If this is the new USA, we will be just fine.

Let the Red Deadbeats go!!!

They probably wouldn't need those [an army/navy/air force] to be fair.

Yes they would, to maintain order. Lots of order. Laws don't enforce themselves. Especially laws againt immigrants, foreigners, commies, Democrats, homosexers, 'bortionists, Hillary, vaxxers, fluoridationists, and undesirables.

And yankees. Goddamn if Texas lets them goobers run loose on her sacred sand, I mean soil.

I dunno, man. Florida is America's Willie Wonka and Texas is its balls. Isn't that a sex change operation? I mean, I'm actually okay with trans and all, but I'm not sure about doing it to the country, itself.

Surgery is never pleasant, but in the end the USA will be much better off without the RedDeadbeat states.

Tickles me to see Wyoming colored blue on that map up there. It's the most rethuglican of all the states, and always has been. As a former native, I can easily imagine Wyo going berserk to join with the New American Confederacy, shooting its guns and driving its pickups in all directions.

Yes, I think berserk is the right word.

Yeah... it's a bit off. Oklahoma is definitely married to Texas, for instance. Kansas (where I sit) is definitely red, but it's not crazy red. We did vote down a constitutional amendment that would allow abortion to be outlawed (there was some court case that said it couldn't be according to state law before SCOTUS did its thing). Even I have no clue what Kansas would do, but we're usually a little less wacko than The South. But yeah, we basically have two separate Republican parties in our state (one more moderate, the other wacko), with the Dems as a "third" party that sometimes wins when the wackos win the primary (which is why our current governor is a Democrat -- the other choice was the loony-bin worthy Kris Kobach, who is currently our Attorney General, and has been known to file some really bizarre lawsuits).

That brings up another thing, though. I don't know what the current status is, but at one time nearly half our military consisted of people who came from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas (mostly Texas, but the list of locals who participated in WWII from my town is longer than the list of people that currently live here... and yes, Fort Riley is just a bit down the road, but not close enough that off-base married soldiers ever lived here. It's about 45 miles to the closest gate, but that's in the "range" area of the base, not the populated part. The local HS... about 100 yards yonder --->, still produces between 1-2 soldiers a year (on average) out of classes of (usually) less than 20 graduates).

We will be better off in the end.

And what about all the millions of people in the seceding states that don't want to secede?. Whose rights will be trampled on, even worse than now, most of whom won't be able to upend their lives to travel to a non-secession state (if even allowed to).

**** them, amiright?

So now you oppose democracy?

If 50.01% of the people in your state decide: we're no longer part of the Union, and hey slavery is now cool and anyone named Hercules56 on internationalskeptics.com is now a slave. Do you oppose this? If so, why do you oppose democracy?

....and now, back to reality.

:)

My great grandfather didn't consent to seeing his country torn apart by a small oligarchy of slave owners. He joined the 1st. Ohio Volunteers and marched to put his life behind his words. He got a minnie ball in his knee at Shiloh.

Well, I don't consent to seeing my country torn apart at the whim of a small cabal of right wing nincompoops. I'm too old to march very far, but I can and will do whatever I'm able to send those dimestore fascists to hot hell.

If there is a state-wide referendum and majority of voters say "yes", its not a small cabal of right wingers, now is it?
