All Hail Taylor Swift, Person of the Year!

Sounds like she may really be like Dolly Parton, then. I'm probably not going to seek out her music, but I'm not going to hate her just because I get tired of seeing her name in media too often.

Unless I see her in commercials. That's a quick path to my undying enmity.

Very like Dolly, yes. Just a wonderful person even if her music is not on my personal playlist. Also, if you are banging her and you break up, it's my understanding that she will musically immortalize your shortcomings.

Also, I worry that she needs a sandwich. Skinny little thing.

ETA: just saw recent pics of her, she's filled out and looks healthier than last I saw her. She used to look flat out anorexic

You must be very careful. I can't navigate my way around in public without encountering random environmental music. Never been into a shopping centre? Did you buy your CDs from a completely silent music store? Never passed by someone on the street with a boom box?

If he'd said that about Phil Collins I'd raise an eyebrow but they dont play pop that can't buy beer over the PA round these parts.

I don't think I could identify one of her songs, but I'm led to understand MAGATs are pissing themselves over this, so I'm down with it.

I'd take that on the basis that being known for banging her is worth a lot more points than not having been.

There's an entire sub-Reddit dedicated to her underarms. At least, that's what someone told me...

Seriously though - I see other singers whose main claim to fame is that they wear the least amount over of material over their genitals - Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus spring to mind - while other than the odd glimpse of thigh, Taylor doesn't flaunt her very obvious sex appeal.

I don't go to shopping centres, haven't bought a CD in over 15 years, don't encounter boom boxes out here in the sticks, have avoided commercial TV channels for years so don't get musical adverts, only play CDs in the car.

Perhaps you're being a little dogmatic?
No, just rather surprised that you live your entire life in a sealed box. I'm the most introverted person I know and even I still go out in public once in a while.

This is not intended as a criticism. You have the right to live as you choose.

Nasty, snide comment. Shame on you.

I do go out in public regularly and shop both locally and in the nearby town centre. There are no 'shopping centres/malls' there, just individual shops that don't have piped music. No boom boxes. If I bought music it would be online, not least because Pontypool has no music shops that I'm aware of and, in any case, 'why should I buy retail and have to park up in a small town multi-storey when I can get that CD online?' I watch TV streams on demand, meaning I don't bump into contemporary music accidentally.

And so on ...

You've gone way down in my estimation.

Indeed, and despite me saying that my comment was not intended as a criticism you appear to have still taken it as a criticism.

Oh well.

For the record:

"No, just rather surprised that you live your entire life in a sealed box." is part of what you said. Plain nasty.

Yeah, she reminds me of Brie Larson a bit in that way. I think she's far more attractive into her 30's than her younger days; they've both "eaten a few sandwiches". And we were born in the same decade so I don't feel too creepy.

Gaga does, also, have a pretty amazing voice. She's another one whom I'm like, not my kinda music, but I hear the talent.

Hold up y'all! Looks like we have a Devil's Advocate.

Not everyone is a fan of Taylor Swift's Epic victory.

Behold!

Political activist Saira Rao is being criticized for calling TIME's choice of Taylor Swift for Person of the Year 'white nonsense' and claiming the pop star could bring peace to the Middle East with an Instagram post.

Rao is the co-founder of Race To Dinner, an organization that facilitates programs focused on conversations about race, and co-founder of Here4TheKids, a group advocating for banning guns and fossil fuels outright.

'The white American woman billionaire who could end the genocide of Palestinians with on IG post is TIME Person of The Year,' Rao said X, formerly known as Twitter.

'White nonsense, white violence, white love of Black and brown genocide.'

My source is the Daily Fail, but it does seem to come from a genuine Xweet.

What say you, Swifty apologists?

Saira Rao is out there busting her butt having dinner parties in which she castigates white women for their evils, and yet the one woman who could end all pain and suffering in the world is being feted on Time Magazine. Can you believe this!?

It would be enough to make Robin DeAngelo cry if white women tears was not an act of violence against the Palestinians!

To be fair, I think arth was just expressing disbelief that you would not have heard one of Taylor Swift's songs, not trying to be nasty.

I also assumed I had never heard one of her songs until I finally decided to check You Tube to see what her most popular songs were and at least one or two sounded familiar.

The documentary mentioned above - Miss Americana - touches on her battle with some sort of eating disorder. Hopefully, she’s overcome that.
