Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Well, TECHNICALLY he calls it for "defamation" (which, again, is pretty much the bog standard SLAPP recipe), or so I'd normally say. But as was pointed out before by Wudang and others, the legal filing pretty much admits that yep, it's true, if you scroll far enough and/or follow certain twits (still intentional pun) you will see his algorithm do that placement. Really, it's like he WANTS to get it dismissed early, and go back to claiming he's the genius stifled by the conspiracy.

It isn’t a defamation suit, the lawyers have dropped the word defamation into it a couple of times but that doesn’t make it a defamation suit.

Glad you are here. Can you tell which of the people you listed earlier were banned under the previous Twitter ownership and were then unbanned by Musk?
I know of Jordan Petersen.
Konstantin Kisin is a young aspiring public intellectual who stated yesterday Musk has saved freedom of speech.
I am drawn to the idea of agreeing on facts, and progressing from there.

That right there is making a category error. There are critical thinking skills and techniques, but "lore" is something you get from (usually unexamined) traditions.
First Google definition:

a body of traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.

I think it nitpicking to say critical thinking skills are not propagated this way, think of Aristotle and Plato casting pearls of wisdom to the villagers in an ad hoc way. I bet they would claim to be critical thinkers, history is favourably disposed.

And you take your facts second and third hand instead of from the original Data.
I am not sure this makes sense.
To enjoy the big bang must I download from the internet ones and zeros and scrutinize them?
Most of us are mediocre dilettantes.

It would be enough if you could figure out who in your rogue's gallery was actually banned on Twitter and unbanned by Musk.

So far, this seems to be impossible for you to figure out, using YouTubers as your source.

I don't think Plato and Aristotle (to be more chronologically accurate) did propagate critical thinking skills this way. They came from very stratified societies in which most of their teaching was for the benefit of upper class men. To the extent that those outside a narrow strata of society even appeared in the Socratic dialogues it was usually only as a prop such as the time Socrates was able to show that even a dumb slave-boy could be shown to retrieve knowledge from his eternal soul through questioning.

See? How does this advance anyone's knowledge?

This guy, who is young and wants to be an intellectual, well he said this (massively hyperbolic) thing!

And surely 4Chan is more permissive and freedom of speechier than Twitter.

I mention Konstantin because he is, in my view, gaining traction beyond his demonstrated abilities, but he is as sincere a man as I ever heard. So if he holds the view Musk is a free speech saviour, I am going to regard Musk in a favourable light.
I think we are all overthinking, while the albatross weighs heavily.

Sincerity does not denote truth, or morality.
As I keep saying, I have outed myself for OCD and currently it is youtube podcasts many hours a day because I can earn while I learn. One of my best friends has written many books on Continental philosophy, just emailed me euphoric at Jonathan Ayling and the free speech victory in the election. I have even agreed to buy 6 bottles of awful rosee wine from this guy's vineyard. I can attest with certainty that New Zealanders like us are euphoric at this victory for a free speech government. Ardern is campaigning at Harvard to turn speech off! There is a lot to it, but that is my story. And the philosopher refuses to acknowledge X, or youtube beyond the music channels.
All roads lead to Rome.

Are you sure we're reading the same filing?

Just the first paragraph says that MM maliciously manufactured images to paint the wrong picture about X. Paragraph 5 on page 2 calls it a smear campaign. Paragraph 6 says MM was falsely portraying X. Paragraph 7 on page 3 calls them "undeterred by the truth", basically meaning they lied. Paragraph 11 again accuses them of basically lying, albeit this time by omission. Paragraph 12 on page 4 calls it a "specious narrative". Paragraph 13 says that the truth bears no resemblance to their narrative, i.e., again says that MM lied. Etc.

Whether or not it actually says the words "defamation" or "libel", that IS what Musk alleges in the filing.

But ok, I'm not a lawyer, so maybe I'm reading it wrong. It's entirely possible that you have better sources. So could you explain to me then what DOES he sue about?

You should delete your history from YouTube and direct your OCD elsewhere. All roads do not lead to Rome. But if your neuroatypical brain fails to notice the ones that go elsewhere, it would be difficult for you to find them.

If I indeed should delete my history of seeking information and wisdom, Soros is the victor.
He inspires the terror organisation Mediamatters.

You should delete your history because what you have seen determines what YouTube shows you next. You have become embedded in an algorithmically-generated echo chamber. YouTube determines what to show you by looking at what you have already seen. Deny it that, and it will start showing you things outside of your algorithmically-generated echo chamber.

I delete my watch history on YouTube regularly because it ends up getting so monotonous. I recommend doing so, especially if you have OCD. You're allowing yourself to focus on the wrong things. It won't be easy, but you have to break out of that cycle. Find a new focus.

I like woodturning videos. I recommend Jack Mack, Ben's Worx, Andy Phillip, David Adamsen and Nick Zammeti.

Look, I disagree with my esteemed coleague Samson... BUT... With all due respect, I don't see why everyone (including himself) is so obsessed about his OCD. Well, ok, he has the O in OCD as an excuse. What's everyone else's excuse?

The worst actual mental processing problems SOMETIMES associated with OCD are stuff like spatial memory, which doesn't really have to do with political views. Delusional thinking is present only in about 4% of OCD patients, and really only in the worst cases, AND there's no guarantee that they'll be about politics.

Basically even as an ad hominem circumstantial, it's extremely weak sauce. It's not like he confessed to being schizophrenic. Honestly even OCPD would be marginally more likely to influence one's political views, e.g., by wanting everything fitting into neat categories.

And that's not even getting into misuses of history I've seen, such as that the Nazis would have killed him for being mentally deficient. I'm not a fan of the NSDAP, but history isn't something one just makes up for an argument. The historical reality is: no, they wouldn't. Unless he was in an actual mental hospital or severely retarded (in the medical sense), nobody would give a flip that he likes to order pencils by length.

If you want to insert him into an alt history scenario, more likely he'd be recruited as a tank driver (people with actual experience in driving a vehicle were at a premium), and sent to die on the eastern front. I mean, same result, but OCD wouldn't be the cause.

But anyway, nobody needs to obsess over his OCD to have a point for why he's wrong.

Thats amazing. In my youth a manifestation of OCD was woodturning. I had books and.books and tools. I started on my fathers metal lathe, Myford.
I built spinning wheels, my mother used one and made more horrible fair isle jersies than the world deserves.

Musk and X ....
