We used to have a lot of gun threads here and one factor that was brought out: Racial disparities in gun violence? There's an even stronger income disparity.

So maybe the answer is not gun control, but re-distributing income? How would you divide up the income pie to minimize gun violence?

And we know the same "correlation" occurs throughout the world, so those that think it is genetic need to explain that. In all societies and cultures, from those with the strictest of laws and punishments like Saudi Arabia to Norway. More poverty and greater income disparity always means more crime.

Perhaps it isn't a correlation...

It needs to be both. Poverty with income disparity will lead to more crime, and when guns are readily available it will mean more crimes with guns.

Sex, race and income. If only white high income women were allowed to possess guns, the USA would be so much safer.
 
Another straggler coming in late.

4 wounded in Wilson, North Carolina. Braulio Fuentes-Martinez, a Latino male, tried to attend a birthday party he was not invited to, when asked to leave, he went to his car and retrieved a gun. 5 shots fired, 2 of the wounded were juveniles.



16 mass shootings.

18 killed.

86 wounded.

That's what, 6 suspects who have been identified? Not a single white guy.

But, but, the MAGArs!

Did you know that there is a correlation between intelligence and income? High intelligence correlates to high income, low intelligence correlates to low income.

Does it then follow that less intelligent people are more likely to commit crime? Ergo, we need to re-distribute income as well as intelligence!

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, black Americans make up 20% of the impoverished in the United States. Black Americans commit 50+% of the homicides.

Gonna have to find a different excuse.

A heavily armed man was found dead at a Colorado amusement park. Officials say he may have been planning a devastating attack

CNN: He was “armed with a semi-automatic rifle and semi-automatic handgun and multiple, loaded magazines for both weapons,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “He was wearing body armor and what appeared to be a ballistic helmet. Additionally multiple improvised explosive devices, (IEDs), were discovered with the suspect and in a vehicle associated with the suspect.”

When you are soft on criminals you'll get more poverty, as those that can will leave. Availability of guns is not the issue. Montana and Vermont have the high rates of gun ownership. Their gun homicide rates are quite low.

There are very likely genetic reasons for group differences, as all traits and behaviors are at least partially hertiable. Otherwise, Darwin was wrong.

Black people are over twice as likely to live in poverty as white people, true (9% vs 21%). But black people commit homicides at 6x the rate of their white counterparts and 8x the burglary. Something is out of whack, there. It's not a noise range disparity. If poverty was indeed the relevant marker, wouldn't the rates be consistent across racial lines?
