Luton Airport Car Park Fire

But in a lithium battery fire, the battery cells on fire oxygenate themselves which is why it is so hard to put it out as temperatures can accelerate to levels that are beyond the scope of the average fire brigade team.

Nobody is talking about 'banning'. But wait and see. There will soon be new regulations about EV and HEV parking.

Let see who is right.

Better construction would be a plus, obviously the construction allowed thr fires to spread Quickly from car to car.

That's a given. That is how we get our wood-fired oven and sauna at our country cottage to light up, by opening and shutting the grate door and the help of kindling.

Wind is a factor in this too, the wind might have been funneled though the structure and Amplified by the structure.

Why is it a lie? It may prejudice future legal claims or court proceedings to make a definitive statement at a stage when investigation has barely started. So of course you insert words like, 'it is believed' or 'at this stage, subject to verification'.
I'm more interested in whether you will believe the final report when it comes out. Will you accept it only if it says the vehicle was a hybrid? Or will you accept it even if it says the vehicle was a plain diesel engine?

Many Metals burn Aluminum powder is worse than Lithium fire departments are trained to deal with them.
Containment is the way to fight a Lithium battery fire.

Magnesium alloy in wheels and some lightweight rank cases and heads burns very well and is hard to put out.
It can even catch light when you are welding it if you aren't using the right techniques with plenty of experience.

Throw in a few Latin phrases and very long words next time, eh?

So you accept that diesel burns at higher temperatures than the 600 degrees you keep claiming?

Fire Chief Officer Andrew Hopkinson in his one and only press statement in the matter said, "'We don't believe it was an electric vehicle. It's believed to be diesel-powered, at this stage all subject to verification."

Why you prefer to believe a secondhand statement that isn't even in his words indicates your lack of impartiality.
How is a statement on the fire service's own website a 'secondhand statement'?

The investigation into the cause of the fire continues, but it has been determined that the vehicle that first caught fire was a diesel car.

Are they lying?

What is your fixation with Andrew Hopkinson? (And it's Chief Fire Officer, not Fire Chief Officer, btw.). Do you think he's the only person able to speak on behalf of the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service? How do you know he's only made one statement to the press?

I was specifically referring to a couple of posters who claimed they felt a need to hurl abuse at any OP in this section.

Some people take enjoyment from supporting conspiracy theories, some people take enjoyment from mocking conspiracy theories.

STILL there is no official statement as to the make and model of the vehicle involved.

There is however an official statement from the fire brigade that it was a diesel car. You may not have noticed, because you have only been told multiple times so far and that generally isn't enough.

The car where the fire started was not powered by a lithium battery, so your comment is superfluous.

It is, of course, possible that one of the other cars which caught fire was an EV or a hybrid, but that's not the topic of this thread. And, yes, there is pretty much nothing the fire service (average or otherwise) can currently do to put out an EV battery fire, but that is also beside the point. (One proposal is to dunk the burning vehicle in a skip full of water, but that's clearly impractical in an enclosed car park.)

There is some research on this in Sweden. On this site you can read a (mostly) English version of it.

Now, doing that inside a car park is obviously a different challenge, but that I guess is true for all kinds of fires.

Mere details

We can't expect a scientist like Vixen to consider mere evidence.

The 'fire chief' has spoken, and he has cast the spell of 'pending confirmation'.

Now the only thing which can break that enchantment is if the same chief fire officer goes to the same spot at the same phase of the moon and walks three times around the press conference chanting "confirmation, confirmation...". Until that happens all we can possibly say is 'I reckon it was probably a hybrid and all the authorities are lying about it because they're all in the pay of Big Battery'. That's science. End of.

This whole Conspiracy theory boils down to carbon could not Burn hot enough to cause the Floor Collapse, but we all know it can, and no evidence of Molten Concrete has yet to be shown.
It's the Old Molten Steel Flowing Like Rivers below our feet claims from 9/11Truth once again.

  • effectively pinned the blame onto the driver of the 'vehicle with a fault'.
  • Effectively gagged the press from interviewing the presumed driver under the guise of 'subjudice' contempt of court laws.

That is my take. It is so obvious.

Surely, if the driver wanted to speak to the press, he could. Do you have any evidence that there is any sort of gag?

The police have not identified the driver, but as far as I know, it's quite usual NOT to do so. The driver hasn't spoken to the press, but I should think that any good lawyer would advise him not to do interviews (since they can only harm his interests).

So, aside from the fact he hasn't been interviewed, what evidence of a "gag" have you?

OK, fair enough. One could get a diesel powered car to burn fiercely enough to melt concrete should one aim an intense flow of air to it. But what you have illustrated is just how difficult it is to get diesel fuel up to that temperature at all. Well, you can give it help as outlined by another postern to produce steam that'll raise the levels. Maybe in an open car park with air from two sides it is faintly possible, with flames rapidly spreading to all cars.

Vixen why do you think Concrete Melted when the Video clearly shows Solid Concrete Slabs falling?
