Author and columnist E Jean Carroll is going back to court to demand “very substantial” additional damages from Donald Trump for the disparaging remarks he made about her during a televised CNN town hall just a day after he was found liable in a civil case for sexually assaulting her.

An amended lawsuit seeking an additional $10m in compensatory damages – and more in punitive damages – was filed in Manhattan on Monday by lawyers for Carroll, who say remarks made by the former president in response to her rape allegations have so spoiled her reputation that she lost her longtime job as an Elle magazine advice columnist.

It's not a gag order...

Trump’s attorney said that the former president remains concerned that the order infringes on his First Amendment rights.

“He understands that he has to comply with the order, and if he doesn’t do so, he’s violating your order,” Blanche said during the hearing.

Merchan reiterated that there is not a gag order in place and Trump can publicly defend himself against the allegations related to this case.

Trump can only view some evidence designated by prosecutors as “limited dissemination materials” in the presence of his attorneys and cannot “copy, photograph, transcribe, or otherwise independently possess” that evidence, per the order.

But surely as the ex-greatest-president-ever, he can just do another jedi mind trick with sensitive documents and simply make them 'unsealed'?

Watching Trump rally footage where he can watch himself being gloriously himself and idiots cheering him on would keep him glued to the TV for hours and hours.
 
I don't think there's a force in the universe; political, criminal, or social, that can convince Donald J. Trump to keep his mouth shut.

My fear/worry is I'm not 100% sure there's a force in the universe; political, criminal, or social, that can/will make Donald J. Trump face meaningful consequences for not keeping his mouth shut.

He'll ignore the order, incite more hate and violence, and a flustered "Well you can't do that! Someone tell him he can't do that louder he must not have heard us the first time!" will be the only response.

He still has four hand picked toadies on the Supreme Court and an Army of Followers willing to commit violence on his behalf.

How much he can **** around before finding out still remains an undefined variable.

Well there is one force in the universe that could at least silence him by making unhearable - a judge with the cajones to lock him up and put him in solitary until trial so that he can scream into the void all he wants, and no-one can hear him.
 
Lock him up for a couple days and I'll bet he'll shut up. It's clear he doesn't think a monetary fine and a conviction matter. He's above that.

This could be contempt, and serious contempt at that. He has yet to learn the lesson to keep his yap shut about court stuff.

Stick him in the chokey for contempt. Trumpy boy is a coward to his bones, and being stuck in jail, even just overnight, is going to bring out that cowardice in spades.

The reason he acts with impunity is not because he's unafraid of the consequences, it's because he's never faced consequences.
