Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

I think the post where I originally said this was removed as part of a tangent; but at all of his companies, including now Twitter, he surrounds himself with people who spend all day reassuring him that he is the main character of reality.

All good buiness managment schools teach that one of the worst things a manager can do is surround himself with Yes Men.
I think Musk ego was so out of control after he got that Time Man Of The Year award that he though he go to the far right and take his fans with him. He was wrong.

I'm surprised anybody cheered Elmo at all. What's to cheer? I didn't hear nearly enough boos.

Ever since Chappelle went on his "I need to whine and explain myself to all the complainers" tour I've found him to be a bit pathetic. Tired of his Urkel voice anyways.

He's also not really funny anymore. His massive standup talent has really rusted away.

I didn't care much for his last couple specials... He really delved into old man angry at how the world is changing. Similar to Carlin near the end.

But, I thought he killed it on SNL recently. Best show of the season until 2 days ago when Martin Short and Steve Martin cohosted.

What Musk is doing with Twitter reminds me of the Joker setting Millions of dollars on fire in "The Dark Knight".

But is that what really has people upset, the money?

I think people are upset that:

a) he's decided to use the platform to boost conspiracy theories and to commit baseless character assassination.

b) disrupt the general eco-system so that the verification badge becomes meaningless

c) bring back a number of posters who were banned for violating ToSs against hate speech under the pretense that somehow the 1st amendment is the guiding principle of the platform (when it actually isn't)

d) replace a fairly haphazard moderating team with... nobody really knows

Now, sure, he can do these things on his platform, but people can criticize as well.

I mean have you seen how much people bitch and moan about the moderation on this forum? It is of course inevitable that people will complain about the moderating on a forum that has several magnitudes the number of users.

Those are all valid points. But sometimes it seems like people are ranting about the business aspect more than anything else. I think that is more a cover for a general disdain for either him, or his politics.

I very rarely find myself on Twitter. And I do kind of miss more of the "wild west" days of the internet. So none of it really bothers me. I think a whole lot of people who in the past trashed Twitter as garbage, are suddenly very invested in faux concern and outrage.

I think some people are marvelling at what bad business decisions Musk seems to be making.

Isn't it odd that he would buy Twitter in the first place, and do so at an inflated price? Then apparently scare away advertisers, and all this while alienating his Tesla base of people who want to buy electric vehicles for ethical reasons.

I mean, sure, I am no billionaire, as I have mentioned once or twice, but none of the things he is doing look to me like good business decisions.

Musk's Handling of Twitter is infuriating, because it is rubbing it into our faces that being Rich in the US has nothing to do with being good at business.
Meritocracy looks different

And the fact that those railing against social security as 'handouts that keep the lazy poor from working' while also being against fair pay and treatment of their workforce are the first to claim taxpayer handouts the moment their poor decisions blow up in their faces.

And when they do, the CEO's get those handouts while the people who worked for them get fired without any compensation.

IMO if you fail a business YOUR money should also be used to pay those affected and deal with the debts.

And it also shows how much political and socially power a single rich person does have. Imagine him buying google...

But, he is good at something, right? Otherwise everyone would have their own Tesla or SpaceX. Plenty of athletes, musicians, actors, politicians, etc. are not good at business, but are very rich. They have a skill of some sort that puts them in that position.

It isn't all luck, usually. Tbh, it sounds more like a lot of people are just being super-critical of Musk due to his success (because in their minds he doesn't deserve it), and celebrating his failures. If someone is doing that they are really fitting the textbook definition of a hater, imo.

And the fact that a lot of people don't like his politics is just the incentive they need to start guzzling the Haterade.

Good luck finding me saying anything positive about Musk ever.

And it's just so predictably boring how everyone who gets rich turns authoritarian/anti-social.
