I wonder how the GOP will interpret the losses of Walker and Oz?
They've been working in this world where democrats that get elected are done so because of the "Cult of Personality" or Identity Politics. Al Franken was just a celebrity, and Obama, well, he was just elected because he was black.
And they've had their success with "celebrities" in the past with Fred Grandy and Sonny Bono and, heck, even Donald Trump. So it's about celebrity!
And they lost the Senate last time in Georgia because Warnock was black. So all they need to do is to play that game of Celebrity or Identity politics, and then the can get those voters.
But it didn't quite work that way. It seems that voters do care about things like, whether someone is actually representing them or has a working brain cell. Oz's biggest failure that he couldn't overcome was that he wasn't even from Pennsylvania. Walker was, sure, a Georgia Native Son, but he couldn't get past the fact that he was completely unqualified and was set up merely as that Token Black Guy to check the Identity Politics box.
They just don't get that Al Franken was elected because he had the skills to be a damn good Senator. And Obama wasn't elected just because he was black.
But that's what they think.
