Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

Read the Matt Taibbi story.

Geez, that is one seriously sad attempt to give the kiss of life to a corpse of a story that expired about two years ago.

So we have some Twitter execs apparently unsure whether the materials were hacked but unable to make a definitive claim that they were, or were not, and getting immense pressure from right-wing sources to explain why they weren't allowing the story to go viral.

The worst thing for Matt Taibbi is that now Elon Musk has got him writing stories about Twitter's internal emails, he'll want him to do this full-time for a couple of years, publishing his stories for free on Twitter to direct traffic to Musk, rather than publish on his own substack where he can get paid instead of paying Musk.

Someone looked through all of the Biden campaign removal requests from Matt's screenshot (via archives). They're all Hunter Biden D pics. That's it. Not exactly the suppression of a major scandal that we'd all been promised.

As another pointed out, if Biden didn't try to have his son's private nudes removed, that would have been a bigger scandal.

As Ms McSweeney is based out of Ireland, that would be the Dept. of Social Protection (the Welfare) for her dole and Intreo (formerly Fás) for her back to work efforts. If she's really lucky they'll send her on a 12 week excel bookkeeping course.
Given her skills, experience and contacts, not to mention contract terms, I rather doubt she'll need the DSP.

Have Matt Taibbi and Elon Musk discovered who shot Kennedy yet? What are they hiding in Area 51? Can’t wait to find out more from their investigations!

How about the so-called 'assassination' of Abraham Lincoln? Did anyone really believe he was shot by actor patsy John Wilkes Booth? Total setup!

Come on, Elon, the public demands the TRUTH! !!!

I don't think this has been posted yet:

Twitter is offering massive incentives to advertisers to try to lure them back.

Twitter will match the spending of those who pay at least $500,000 with a cap of $1 million per advertiser. Those spending $350,000 will receive “50 percent value add”—meaning they receive additional impressions worth half of what they spend. A $200,000 investment grants advertisers a “25 percent value add,” or extra impressions worth a quarter of what they spend.

Yes, instead of having an ad associated with Nazi hate speech, if you spend at least $500k with us, you can have two ads associated with Nazi hate speech.

I sometimes wonder if Elon Musk doesn't always think things through...

I think this requires a good close look at both of their twitter feeds! Lets see what sort of exchanges Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Booth had before the alleged incident!

Yeah, I think I mentioned that on the Hunter Biden thread. It shows a moderation team thinking about how and whether to take down material that is basically someone’s home made porn and did pics. In many cases it is simply the law that you don’t post these kinds of hacked materials. Remember that time when a load of celebrities had then iCloud accounts hacked and their nudes spread all over the social media landscape. Moderators SHOULD take those down!

So now there is no moderation team. Just a single guy making decisions based on his personal feelings and interactions. Only an idiot would believe that Elon Musk has a more principled approach to Twitter.

I feel like an incredible businessman compared to Elon!

My Dad recently said, "Money is the measuring stick", but he didn't say what it measured.

On another note, I can't figure out the Musk/Republicans thing. The guy makes electric cars and conservatives hate them! Must be confusing for them.

I just noticed the word Republican and Reptilian look very similar if you squint just a little.

Taibbi posted this article by his friend Matt Bivens.

https://mattbivens.substack.com/p/twitter-is-fun-again

the Twitter Files report was covered by media as far-off as Russia, and Donald Trump was citing it as the latest reason to “throw the presidential election results of 2020 OUT”. Republican-leaning media declared that Taibbi had highlighted a national scandal. Democrat-leaning media yawned: A Washington Post report described the Twitter Files as “a dud,” while CNN said the files so far have simply “largely corroborated what was already known.”

As a political independent skeptical of both parties, I find all of the above to be simultaneously true. The opening salvo of the Twitter Files did indeed come up short; corroborate what we knew; highlight a national scandal; and raise fundamental of questions about the integrity of our democracy in general, and the recent presidential election in particular.

Funny how all of that can be true at the same time. Welcome to America 2022.

Thank goodness we don't have any of that sort of speech on Facebook.

I think its a question of degrees.

All social media platforms will have distasteful posts at some point or another that they have to figure out how to deal with. Facebook seems to have at least taken some steps to address the issue, whereas Twitter seems to want to be a dystopian hell-scape all in the name of "free speech".

Apparently in the past the advertiser (or the booking agency) had a contact that they could talk to about these types of issues and then twitter had moderation staff to deal with it....

In the past.

Musk says that after advertisers had started leaving Twitter (because neo-nazis), some have started to return.

From: Fortune
Elon Musk...said that Apple had “fully resumed” advertising with the company....The announcement followed a brief Tweet Friday evening thanking advertisers for returning to the brand.

However:

...there’s no reported status change from Interpublic Group (IPG), one of the world’s largest advertising companies, which recommended its clients pause spending on Twitter last month, due to moderation concerns.

If Musk says it is so then it must be so!
