The lurid (but ultimately unimportant) details sound too good to be true. Ketchup dribbling down the wall, reached for a steering wheel, attempted to throttle an agent with his tiny hands. Did he also pay Russian prostitutes to pee on a bed? The indictment against Trump is that it's all believable.

If Trump is playing 3-D chess, he should've had some payoff to get this 25 year-old to perjure herself, which would then cast all of the J6 hearings into doubt.

That was one of the dirty little secrets about restaurant kitchens that the late..and still missed...Anthony Bourdain told about in his first book.
 
Question: What are Cassidy Hutchinson's career prospects? She was 24 when this was happening around her, just 26 now. She worked for Trump and, before that, Scalise, because she supported right-wing Repub views. It's hard to believe that any Republican official or organization would hire her now, and places that might respect her intelligence and integrity wouldn't much like her politics, nor would she like their's. What's her next step? (I suspect grad school or law school, but she might not have the money or inclination.)

It might be due to her attorney switch.
 
Colbert had a great closing to his monologue tonight. After playing a clip of Gen Flynn taking the Fifth over and over to questioning by Liz Cheney, culminating with Flynn taking the Fifth to Cheney asking, "General Flynn do you believe in the peaceful transition of power in the United State of America?" Colbert does a jaw drop then starts singing a rendition of the Star Spangled Fifth, complete with his audience joining in and rising to their feet, hands over their hearts.

If you bothered doing something called "research" before you knee-jerked off another post in which you question the motives of those testifying against your Dear Leader, you would have known that Ms Hutchinson changed her legal representation earlier in this month. This fact is why I predicted her as one of two possible candidates to be the surprise witness (see post 2957)

Cassidy Hutchinson — a top aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows during the Trump era — has parted ways with her lawyer and brought on new representation. Her new lawyer, Jody Hunt of Alston Bird, confirmed the move to POLITICO.

"The change in counsel signals an increased willingness from Hutchinson to cooperate fully with the Jan. 6 select committee’s probe, according to a person familiar with her thinking. The panel has signalled that it views her as a key witness.

Hutchinson’s former attorney, Stefan Passantino, has deep Trump World connections. Her new lawyer, Jody Hunt, is a long-time close ally of Jeff Sessions and served as his chief of staff when the former attorney general enraged Trump by recusing from the Russia probe​

She has switched from a Trump sycophant lawyer to an honest lawyer. I would bet dollars to donuts that Passantino was strongly advising her not to testify, and that Hunt is now giving her different advice.

it's a good idea to have lawyer who actually represents you, instead of someone who would like you to cover for them.

Trump did his usual number of pretending he's the clear because he hardly knew Hutchinson. . .which is like a criminal saying he had to have known the person who I.D.ed him for the testimony to count.

Then he launched into his usual dismissive story of how Hutchinson is really just a ex-staffer with a chip on her shoulder because she wasn't allowed to join the Trump team in Mar-a-logo.

So he says he didn't know her but claims he had knowledge of her and her alleged poor work. And he knows she was sore about being left behind .

Which is it Donny?
 
Hardly knew her even though she had an office pretty close to the POTUS hangouts and was directly under Meadows, Drumpf's chief of staff.

She apparently accompanied Meadows at the highest-level meetings to take notes, and she gave orders in his name. If Trump didn't know her, he was blind and deaf.
Brendan Buck, a former aide to House speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), said in an interview that Hutchinson “was always by his side … when there were meetings you’d expect to be principal level or very small senior staff level, he would always insist she was in the room.” Buck said she was usually a quiet presence. “She was largely there to take notes,” Buck said. “It’s just unusual to have a relatively junior aide to either be in principal level or senior staff level, but it was his call, so we deferred to him.”

She was viewed throughout the White House as speaking for Meadows when she gave other staff members orders, and regularly said “Mark wants” or “the chief says” — the chief being Meadows.

A former White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe internal discussions, said that Hutchinson traveled constantly with Meadows, going on Air Force One, answering his calls, and getting texts from members of Congress. Key members of the White House staff who wanted to get a message to Trump or Meadows often went through her.

Listen, this testimony is first of all stunning, because we haven't heard this. Two, it's compelling because of her proximity to power all of these people directly having conversations with her. I think as we have seen before, it's methodical. We always point out the caveat there's not a minority here that's pushing back or questioning the other way, but it leads up to January 6 the concern that it might "get real real bad" in the days before. The concern that the proud boys and oath keepers were going to be there, the concern that there would be weapons on the mall, and then radio transmissions that they saw weapons - AR-15s and others, and then the testimony that the president was really concerned about the crowd, that they weren't allowed in through the magnetometers. He wanted the crowd to be bigger, more robust and she quotes him as saying (and she was there in that back room behind the stage) "I don't effing care that they have weapons, they're not here to hurt me. Take the effing mags away let my people in they can march to the capital from here. Let the people in - take the effing mags away".

Listen. All of this is first hand so it's from her listening to it. That's why it's so compelling and that's perhaps why we have this hearing that popped out of nowhere

I think what you pointed to Sandra [Smith] was the most compelling when she quotes Mark Meadows saying "Pat you heard the president, he doesn't care. He thinks Mike deserves it, he doesn't think they're doing anything wrong" as far as they're literally literally calling for the vice president to be hung, and then Pat Cipolone says this is effing crazy according to Hutchinson.

This testimony was very compelling from beginning to end. She obviously had access to all of the players. We are now hearing from the former president on various posts where he questions her accuracy he goes after her directly says he doesn't know who she is and said he didn't lunge at the secret service agent in the beast, that didn't happen he says he didn't throw his lunch against the wall that didn't happen, and that she's lying.

Cassie Hutchinson is under oath on Capitol Hill, the president is on Truth Social making his statements What was so compelling, I think, is how it was laid out. We always point out that there's not a push back and it would have been great to hear Jim Jordan or some congressman say some other angle to this, but the testimony in and of itself is really, really powerful.​
Even Faux News is having trouble handwaving all this away!

I am still annoyned the otherwise intelligent people seem so ignorant of history .
