Anyone who deliberately loses money so they can claim a "tax write off" is an idiot. The amount you save on taxes will always be less than what you lost to get that "write off".
 
I find it precious that Trumpers in here are criticizing Biden for "sharing intelligence" with China about Russia.....

First of all, the sharing is more like "hey, look at all the pictures of troops. You can't deny this is happening" and not "here is how our intelligence operation works, here is how we know, here are all of our secrets" and and second of all, Trumpers ignore the fact that Trump gave away US secrets quite often and had secret meetings with Putin.

Trumpers really should just STFU because they only make themselves look more foolish than we already know they are.

How any of those idiots can claim Biden is senile, well, you are idiots! I might even support Biden running for a second term. The speech was good.

Unfortunately goals and promises don't often translate to accomplishments. Like the war on cancer thing. He's said that before and while we've made a lot of progress, I don't think that's because of government investment.

It was interesting he brought up burn pits. Jon Stewart did a pod cast on that a few months back.

The Republicans booed when Biden criticized their precious tax cut for the rich. Their one-trick-pony flag was flying.

Biden didn't give them any room to boo about Covid interventions. He avoided using the word mandate(s).

I agree... it was a great speech. The Biden nay sayers will trot out their idiotic "he's got dementia" crap and point to a few stuttering incidents as 'proof'.

As someone who lost both her parents to cancer and whose husband has terminal cancer, I can say that I don't think Biden is being overly unrealistic. We will conquer cancer eventually, but we have to throw a lot of money into research.

Biden's speech about Ukraine was great. He's showing the kind of leadership that Trump never did and never can.

ETA: Gee, not a single mention about how he's been a victim or moaning and groaning about "poor me". Refreshing after Pres. It's All About Me.

I think Biden should have bee more upfront that this new cold war...and make no mistake, that is what it is,is going to require sacrafice.He needed some "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil tears and sweat". Most of the CNN commentators said that. One, who is friendly to Biden, said it was a Chuchillian sppech with more Church then Chill.
I think he should have announced more tough measures against Russia,..we know they are coming..ratther then a symbolic cutting off American Air Space to Russian flights. Hell. the Movie studios did as much
But he laid out the issues squarly it's democracy and freedom ( real freedom not the crap the right yells about) against dictatorship and oppresion , an it is a struggle we...and the world...cannot afford to lose.

The GOP 'rebuttal' by Gov. Kim Reynolds was obviously written before Biden's speech full of their usual *****. Biden's "weak" blah, blah, blah.... They're so full of crap. Inflation is the Dems' fault! It's their gas policies that did this! Billions in Federal go to (Dem) states like CA and NJ...but don't mention that he biggest receivers of Federal aid are NOT those states, but RED states.

As someone who loves great oratory, I thought it was very good. I think great is much harder to come by today. The nature of today's news cycle will not give this the lasting impact of say JFK's inaugural, MLK's "I have a dream" or Churchill's most famous speech.

I think any emphasis on sacrifice would be a mistake. Instead, I think it should say that there are difficult challenges ahead but Americans have what it takes to unite and rise to overcome them.

Agreed. I thought it was very good. Although after the last few years, maybe my good bar needs readjusted.

I watched maybe 5 minutes of it and counted no less than 20 straight up lies in that amount of time. It was 100% propaganda ******** and half this country will swallow it like it's the finest meal they've ever had.

I understand, but we don't know what lies ahead. Carter told the country about sacrifice. It was not received well. They didn't want to hear it.

It's one thing to say there are difficult challenges ahead, but it needs to be positive. That united together Americans can do anything.

My favorite JFK line is "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard,"

JFK was really a so so President, but he was easily the best Presidential orator in the last 70 years. It also didn't hurt that he had Ted Sorensen writing for him.
