Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 28

Come on, man. How many times do I have to repeat this post:

Personally, I don't think it is cool that people wish death on a former or sitting President. I wouldn't condone it at all. I especially would not approve of wishing for a public execution, either.
True enough, but as you yourself said, the subject you were addressing was that of calling for public execution, and that is true no matter how many times you repost the same thing saying exactly that.

That's the topic you choose to focus on. What do you think that choice tells others about you?
Uhhh...that I don't think it is cool to wish death upon a former or current President?

What is the other interpretation?
That the same thing from the other direction, which you keep trying to steer everybody's attention away from, must be something you think is just fine. If you didn't have two different reactions to it depending on which party is which, you wouldn't be showing such widely different behaviors.

Huh? I don't think people should be wishing death upon Presidents, current or former, no matter what the party affiliation. But the comment in question, wishing for the public execution of Trump, came in this thread.

The orange excressence, that sack of rotting yams, is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of its fellow citizens. Not as soldiers in some war. But as victims of its ego, selfishness, pride and shamelessness. It is just about the most despicably malignant piece of human wreckage the nation could scrape up from the sludge of its dank underbelly and thrust forward as its representative. A hideous creature that warrants a hideous end.

Unless the nation rises to its darkest potentialities and puts the bastard back in office. Then, a pox on the lot of you.

Over the past half decade, we have seen elected republicans invite Ted Nugent to the white house after he called Obama a "subhuman Mongrel" and made suggestions about him and Clinton "sucking on his machine gun", post videos of various republicans physically attacking both symbolic media representations and opposing members of congress, and has called for Pelosi to be "executed".

Yet those republicans continue to be supported by the party at large.

I think any sense of decorum or integrity has been gone from politics for a long time. If republicans are going to engage in violent rhetoric, it shouldn't be surprising if others decide that its fair game.

Then I guess it is just too bad for the rest of us when someone says the following:

"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" Trump remarked at a campaign stop at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. "It's, like, incredible."

ISF is not advocating anything. A single poster compared Trump to Mussolini (a comparison whose accuracy would be hard to deny, though I'm sure Warp12 could manage it) and a single poster expressed a hope that he would meet the same end.

Well, now more then a single poster hopes Trump will meet a end like Il Duce, since I hope so also.

That's the spirit. I appreciate the honesty. I strongly suspect that more feel the same, but are uncomfortable about expressing it.

I hang my head in shame.
When a post was made a little after midnight and I did not condemn it within 60 minutes, then I must have condoned and accepted it.

And, humorously, you still haven't condemned it...even though that would have required less digital ink. ;)

Largely from the Republican side, at least, though not completely. With that said, of course, it may be unsurprising that a Republican Senator decided to tweet an animation of himself murdering Congresswoman AOC and President Biden not long ago. That he hasn't been removed from his position already is problematic.

Also, their own sacred cow, the marmalade manchild had, in front of thousands of his spittle lickers, suggested that there might be a second amendment option to deal with Hilary Clinton.

Talk about out-of-touch. But, I guess when you only see America through the media, and also through a cultural filter, it makes sense.

...only see America through the media, and also through a cultural filter, ...

And you don't? You think your idea of "America" is not influenced by the media you choose to consume and the cultural filters you wear. You think because you are American, you are somehow immune to these influences?

I'm pretty sure, from living in this country for 52 years, I have a better grasp on "American" things than those who have spent very little time here. Those types only know what they consume.

...and yet, from your posts, your grasp seems to be based on a very "narrow" field of view defined by certain cliches of what it means to be American, that you have embraced wholeheartedly...Male, White, Anglo-Saxon, Gun happy, Patriarchal, Testosterone loaded...to name a few. I have probably been exposed to a more diverse version of Americana than you.

I've lived here for 67 years and I don't think you've got a rat's ass idea of "American" things outside of right wing crap.

And YOU, Mr "Split tail- Levine is a fat, ugly, self-mutilating freak", chiding anyone from atop Mt. Moral High Ground has got to be the most ironic thing I've read in a long time.
