Discussion: Transwomen are not women (Part 7)

Anti-trans astroturf hate machine goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Right-wing author and commentator Matt Walsh, host of a popular Daily Wire podcast, has reportedly leased property in Loudoun County, Virginia as a way to evade the school board’s adoption of meeting rules requiring that speakers be students, parents, residents or business owners in the county. Loudoun County’s school board has been a target of right-wing organizing and disruptions after the school board adopted transgender-inclusive policies and right-wing hysteria over critical race theory reached an all-time high.

Leasing a property someplace you don't live so you can froth at the mouth with a bunch of other reactionary freaks is very normal, healthy behavior actually.

Instead of pointing out what your opponents get factually or morally wrong, you call them "reactionary freaks" etc. This is preaching to the choir at best.

Jerry Coyne on the ACLUs backdown on it's rewriting of the words of Ruth Bader Ginsberg to make them 'more inclusive'...

The irony of the backdown is that they perpetrate pronoun shenanigans. "We" don't do this kind of thing. But of course the people posting under the ACLU's Twitter account as the voice of the ACLU are part of the "we" that's disavowing the post.

In fact they're probably part of the exact same public relations subset of the ACLU "we" that issued the backdown statement. It's funny to me that on an issue where proper pronouns is the line in the sand, they'd lie with their pronoun usage.

This is in the wrong thread.

LOL! You might think so, but read the caption....

Authorities arrest a man after a fight broke out during the Loudoun County School Board meeting over protests against critical race theory and transgender students' rights.

It's hilarious how basically the Venn diagram of those that oppose transgender rights almost exactly fits over those having meltdowns over CRT, mask and vaccine mandates.

If someone is screaming against transgender rights, I can almost guarantee they won't be wearing a mask.

Shhhhhh! Please refrain from pointing out things like this: you're in danger of pulling the rug out from underneath this whole "We're on the right side of morality and history" anti-transgender-rights schtick!

Well it would solve the issue of everyone arguing about a variable that is undefined.

Male/female is clearly defined, a constant if you will, I think it would make it easier.

It would make it easier for some in this discussion, and harder for others. There's a very good reason* why we haven't been able to agree on male/female as a clearly defined constant. It's been proposed and dismissed more than once already.

*I.e., a reason that confers rhetorical advantage to one side in the debate.

There should be a word for posts which signal one's virtue without bothering to assert or refute anything on point.

Who in this thread are you referencing? Or are you railing against imagined opponents?

You said it was the wrong thread. I was pointing out that it was not. That is all.

 Did you not also write:

That doesn't actually describe any of the dissenters in this thread. We're all pro-mask, pro-vax around here. You're arguing with rational skeptics who agree with you on a wide range of important issues. There's no need to demonize us and pretend you're debating a wild strawman. You must have better arguments than that!
