President Biden begins his first press conference by touting the rate of vaccines being administered, a feet solely made possible by President Trump's Operation Warp Speed.
Did she really spell it that way?

The man is truly in dementia and you people who voted for him can't accept that and are in total denial...I voted for him as I'm a lifelong Dem and could not vote for Trump but in retrospect I should NOT have voted at all. I won't next election most likely.

All the questions were preplanned with answers and given to him in a booklet and certain press people ONLY were permitted. He's a puppet and it's disgraceful for our country and him.

He didn't tell anyone to drink bleach.

Wow! This is what happens when you limit your observations to short clips on right wing.media. Biden has a stutter, not dementia. You would know that if you watched it all. He seemed much more coherent than Trump has been the last decade.

Oh please I've heard this dialogue from you before, and yes, he's had a stutter problem but this cognitive decline is not new, whether I watched clips or the whole conference, I watch no TV period so I have to pick up where I can and as for U.S. media it's so so corrupt in many ways. And I'm glad I have no TV to turn on...truly.

False. He had a binder with detailed information about topics likely to arise or that he, himself, wanted to discuss. The only thing he was given was the names of people to call on, *NOT* the questions they would ask.

True, only "certain" people from the press participated...because requiring reporters to have press credentials is how it has always been. Plus, there's only so much room for people, especially in light of social distancing requirements.

Finally, I have a question: What's the difference between planned and preplanned?

None, do you feel better now that you called me on some grammar.

You should cancel your internet service too.

First of all, thank you for digging deeper, Scopedog.

Second, to poke a little more at 1 and 2... it's probably worth adding for consideration that lines in heavily Democratic areas of Georgia have already been significantly longer and much more prone to going slower because of machine issues and removed voting locations - both of which are fairly likely by Republican design. Going further, IIRC, there were voters who were outright disenfranchised in recent years because of the lines simply being too long, so, for example, at about 2 AM, they were driven away by force.

I wonder if Democratic Party majority-led states ever enact voting regulations with seemingly innocuous provisions that may result in the disenfranchisement of opposition party voters.

Ever? I think that it's extremely likely that such happened before the realignment that happened in relation to the Southern Strategy, first of all, so technically yes. In the modern day, though, not so much, but it can't be ruled out entirely. Rather memorably, though slightly more high profile than you may be asking about, quite a few of the corporate/conservative/"moderate" Democrat politicians of New Jersey tried to gerrymander NJ a couple years ago. There was *very* strong Democratic opposition to the attempt, especially from the progressive part of the party and the attempt was derailed. Certainly, there are those in the Democratic Party who would be happy to disenfranchise Republican voters, but that serves as a recent example about the general sentiment on the topic.

I wonder if President Biden, Daily Kos, Marilyn Marks, and Stacey Abrams would have a slightly different reaction.

Slightly different? Sure. From virulently opposed to firmly opposed is indeed a slight difference. Daily Kos staff, Marilyn Marks, and Stacey Abrams would fairly certainly all count in that category. I honestly can't say for Biden, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

You people can't let that go, trump was not serious when he made the stupid comment...but it goes on and on and on and on.

Because I do, Biden is not all there anymore, and it's tragic for everyone.

Your double standards are well worth further consideration - by you, of course, since you're unlikely to listen to us.

To be clear, on actual examination, Trump was completely serious about his disinfectant comment, and both that comment and the UV comment were rather clearly inspired by the board he was staring at shortly before that described the effectiveness of disinfectant and UV at killing the virus on outside surfaces. That Trump wasn't there enough to actually understand what he was pushing was tragic for everyone, especially in relation to the spike in bleach drinkers right after he said that.

I appreciate your feedback. I deleted these two particular points almost immediately for what it's worth. I'm interested in keeping focus on the Georgia legislation. Anyone who feels like it is free to double-check that I accurately represented everything and didn't leave out anything important or otherwise germane.

Absolute nonsense. You think that if you repeat this over an over that the rest of us who watched his performance from start to finish are going to change are minds? Get serious. I'm thrilled he's our President.

Far out.

Just watched his first presser.

To say the dude didn't look a bit dodge in the old compos mentis department, would be a bit of real time revisionism.

What is it with the US and (apart from Obama, who didn't really do anyrhing), weirdo prez's?

And how do these people manage to make so much cash to get the job in the first place?

What I find refreshing is that the US once again has a president who speaks "presidentially", who has respect for people, who...

.... does not act like a spoilt brat-child throwing a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants.

.... does not make up rude, mocking and demeaning names for people he doesn't like.

.... does not enable or encourage white supremacists, racists and homophobes

.... does not think he is the most knowledgable person on the planet about ******* everything!

.... spends NO time whatsoever singing his own praises and telling everyone how great he thinks he is.

.... doesn't tell bare-faced lie after bared-faced lie after bare-faced lie.

.... is not a narcissistic, puffed up douchebag.

.... is not a complete wanker.

There are many more, but I can't be bothered - those are the highlights anyway.

The truth is, Biden looked quite fine. The boring part was watching the press desperately flail around for a controversy/soundbite that...simply never showed up.

I was only half kidding when I said that Biden did none of Toupee Fiasco's lunatic screaming and flailing. THere's no fireworks about the lugenpress, no interest in considering the usual increase in border crossings some invasion of swarthy, drug-dealing rapists sent by Mexico, no ridiculous conflicts with his own VP (why even ask that question?). THe most I got was "We're rebuilding what has been wrecked over the past 10-12 years or so concerning the filibuster, border security, refugee access, our next major goal is infrastructure".

SHould the press, in gneral, stay on the lookout over the various things that Dolt 45, and especially Mitch McConnell, have allowed to rot in the name of greed? Yep. Did this give me any real confidence the White House press will do so? Nope, they'd apparently rather keep trying to be "balanced" in a wildly off-balance situation.

And you'd never know it if you read this crap:

National Review: Biden’s Woeful Press Conference
But at his first press conference as president this afternoon, Cecilia Vega of ABC News politely nailed him to the wall on a key failure of his border policy.

She told an affecting story of meeting a nine-year-old boy at the border who had walked to the U.S. from Honduras, and said that when she called the boy’s mother, the woman explained that she had sent him to the U.S. because she believed that Biden would let him into the country.

This, of course, is exactly why there’s been a surge at the border. ...

OMG, the brown people are surging over the border. They're sending in their anchor teenagers.

I don't think Caroline and Cullenz watched the presser. They simply want to repeat the meme that Biden is a doddering old guy who has lost a few marbles.

What I got from it was what Smartcooky got. Finally we don't have total nutjob bully as President. One who makes you feel calm and reassured that cruel insanity doesn't rule the day.
