There’s certainly a proper term for it, but I call this “conversion”:

“Evil Group A is doing Bad Thing B, and heroic Group C will put a stop to it by Date D.”

Date D passes. So do Dates D’, D++, D Ultra, D2: Electric Boogaloo, and SharkDato.

An example of someone from heroic Group C - you know, the ones opposed to Evil Group A - doing Bad Thing B occurs.

“See! Evil Group A! Told ya!” (<— This is where some other event is converted into support for the premise it doesn’t actually support.)

This has been the M.O. of the local sedition apologist since long before the ‘Q’ stupidity - as drearily predictable as his refusal, despite earlier pledges, to acknowledge the utter failure of ‘Q’ once Trump left office with none of the ‘Q’ drivel coming true.
 
Maybe I spoke too soon: Prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia have initiated a criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s Joe Biden’s... wait (squints)... uh, sorry, Donald Trump's attempts to subvert Georgia’s election results.

One must look at posting history. Past activity reveals likely future behaviour. So far, we have had moon hoax, 911, JFK, and a bucket of others. Each time one of those is beaten to death, the MO is to move on to the next stupid CT. In this regard, the Q nonsense was convenient since it had years of mileage when it started. About 6 years of mileage, given it started long before Trumpty-Dumpty was elected in 2016. Now in a last gasp March 4 is the final grasping at straws that those of a CT turn of mind can cling to. When that inevitably does not happen, those of a CT turn of mind will go silent for a while, and the re-emerge with whatever is the next CT theory as though nothing had happened.
 
Last Q post was Dec 8. A lot has happened since then, most notably the failure of Trump to remain in power.

Will Q cranks carry on under their own steam or will the conspiracy largely fizzle out? How do the explain this abandonment by their leader at such a pivotal moment?

The Q mob seems to have been largely self sustaining for a long time now. Many of the stranger aspects of the cult came from the mob rather than the "leader". (Like JFK Jr, and the Adrenochrome/blood drinking)
I think they will be just fine and carry on without problems.

It seems a lot of them are very busy 'researching' old messages for more 'clues'. So a never ending stream of crap will still keep coming.

Well, Donald Trump is QAnon's object of fixation and deification; but he has never been the cult's "leader" as such.

The simplest explanation is that this is a result of automated hotel booking software that increases the rates on rooms as vacancy shrinks.

It's not so much that some manager is personally choosing to gouge these morons, it's more that the flood of morons are booking up rooms at their God-King's hotel and the automated software is responding by hiking rates.

There's going to be a lot of disappointed rubes in expensive rooms come March 4th. I feel bad for any other patrons there that had legitimate business, but I suppose contact with right wing extremists is a known risk of staying at any Trump property these days.

I think the thing is, they never brought anything new to the party. They just appropriated any CT they could find and crammed it into their narrative stream of consciousness ramblings and ran with it. I also think that putting the cork back in the loony bottle is going to be an uphill struggle
