“I was not part of a plot—organized, whatever,” she told the New Yorker. “I have no military background [...], I’m a mom with eight kids. That’s it. I work. And I garden. And raise chickens. And sell cheese at a farmers market.”

Jesus Christ these people are entitled.

The Lincoln Project gives us "The Squalid" from a couple days ago. They name names, play quotes, and they get a bit NSFW at the end. The message: 'Vote these guys out'.

Here's something to think about...

From: Yahoo News
Former President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election by propagating baseless claims of mass voter fraud have cost taxpayers more than $519 million...The Post tallied the cost from reviews of local, state, and federal spending records, and interviews with government officials. The costs included legal fees, damage costs from the Capitol siege in January, military and security expenses, and more.

Remember how Trump used to make a big show of donating his salary to various charities? Well, costs associated with Trump's sedition have easily exceeded his salary.

The President's Salary is only 400,000 dollars a year. A small town dentist makes that. People on Youtube pretending to be scared of jump scare videos can make that.

The government operates in simple numbers so huge that I'm willing to bet that the time it took to just do the paperwork to send Trump's salary to those other organizations cost so much in lost time that could have been spent doing anything else it probably as a concept was a loss from the beginning.

Marjorie Taylor Greene - The Brains

There just aren't enough laughing dogs.
I know right. This morning on NPR they described Greene and Boebert as the "face of the party". I'm thinking, what, the most inexperienced members are the face of the party? :jaw-dropp

The face of the party is whoever gets the most news coverage. Green certainly won that contest last week.

Trump was the face of the GOP - experience may actually work against would-be Republican leaders.

Have you ever donated money to a charity? Was it difficult? It's hard to believe that the paperwork would be much of a problem for Trump or his staff.

(And I think a lot of dentists would be thrilled to net 400K.)

I don't think they are going to just accept heads.

Remember Gawker? I'm not a big fan of journalists being sued. But FOX News ignored its responsibility to perform any due diligence. It's not like they reported these lies once, but over and over and over and over again.

There is easily proven recklessness and malice.

Frankly I believe that FOX has been making billions for decades through lying with premeditation.

Yup. I guess that not firing them might make possible punitive damages higher. And lead the management to being personally sued by their shareholders as well...

I think Dominion and Smartmatic have good legal cases. It would be one thing if a single person on a single occasion defamed the voting machines on FOX. But their own hosts did it day after day after day. They brought on guests who repeated these lies.

I'm very interested in these cases, to put it mildly. These are some of the consequences I've been anticipating for quite a while. I hope they widen the net to include Trump and others.

I agree. Carelessness brought on by a sense of impunity. It'll take years, of course, but discovery might provide some amusement during the process.

I'm a huge believer in freedom of speech and the press, but clearly it requires some checks and balances. The amount of disinformation being peddled these days is out of control and endangers everything

It's actually quite fascinating that Trump tried to BS his way into stealing the election... and that he came so close to succeeding. But of course freedoms have limits, and the future of America at this point depends on curbing disinfo from domestic and foreign sources.

EVERYTHING Trump did was based on racism, xenophobia and disinformation. He turned "uh uh, you are" into a defense. The GOP has lied a lot, but Trump turned it into a universal tenet of the Republican party.
