The Biden Presidency

Susan B. Anthony quarters, Sacagawea dollar coins as well.

If we're counting coins, anyway.

The Sacagawea dollar also showed an infant Pompey. Not that we know what either of them looked like.

Not sure, but that might have been the first US coin to portray two people.

ICE really needs to be broken up. Over 20 years ago when I was an officer of the INS, we talked about Removal and Detention being its own service. When DHS stood up there was discussion about R&D being pulled out but it was left in ICE. The **** shows of kids in cages and mass overcrowding are a partial result of the fact the leadership doesn't know how to run humane R&D operations. We've always had the problem of not noticing detention until something blows up in our face.

That seems questionable. I mean look at all the money they are able to get to private prisons through the use of the current system. You just have to focus your priorities on what it truely important like making a profit, and not on crap like humane detention. The US showed exactly what it thought of that with its torture programs so why would we expect law enforcement to have a different standard?

9. Lays the foundation for $15/hr minimum wage. This will put many entry job levels in the tank...
10. Rejoins the Paris climate accord.
11. Requires non-citizens to be counted in the census and districts reapportioned (gerrymandering).
12. Reverses Trumps restrictions on USA entry from 7 Muslim countries.
13. Halts construction of "The Wall".
14. Directs OMB director to develop recommendations to modernize regulatory review and undoes Trump's regulatory approval process.
15. Undoes Trump's expansion of immigration enforcement within the United States
16. Enhances the nation's collection, production, sharing and analysis of coronavirus data (not sure what this is but it is welcomed)

... and many others. All done by Executive Order.

Looking at it from the outside I see very little downside to that list.

Re #3 - I think you will find that a majority of Canadians agree with the cancellation, including a majority of elected members of the federal government. Only political maneuvering requires the feds to be shown to be against it. Apart from Alberta it will soon become a non-issue here.

The EO around the trans issue is basically Biden just following the law. The SCOTUS decision in Bostock made it pretty clear that gender identity and sexual orientation are facets of the category "sex", and discrimination along these lines violates the existing law.

Had Biden not instructed his cabinet to act to enforce the obvious consequences of this ruling, it was an issue that was extremely ripe for further litigation that was likely to result in the same conclusion.

What a surprise - executive orders are bad things again. Wonder what happened?

Next thing you know, teleprompters and the deficit will be bad things again too...

Half truth, half lie.

So?
3. Pissed off our staunches ally and closest neighbor by canceling the Keystone Pipeline.
Canada will be fine. Not everyone in Canada supports this project.4. Reneged on immediately giving $2K stimulus check if Georgia voted for Democrat Senators.
Not true. Never was promised and this has to pass Congress.
5. Put thousands out of work (see #3 and #13).

Moving to alternative energy sources will create more jobs.
6. Put a ban on obtaining permits for oil drilling within Federal lands even though the top companies have permits to last them 4 years. (showcasing) Good
7. Put Fauci to head the US contingency for WHO.
Good. Science should rule and Fauci is well qualified.

About ***** time
9. Lays the foundation for $15/hr minimum wage. This will put many entry job levels in the tank...
No it won't. Total myth.
10. Rejoins the Paris climate accord.
Great!
11. Requires non-citizens to be counted in the census and districts reapportioned (gerrymandering).Non-citizens have always been counted. And this isn't gerrymandering
12. Reverses Trumps restrictions on USA entry from 7 Muslim countries.
Yeah, So? Freedom of religion...remember? 13. Halts construction of "The Wall". Dumbest construction project in American history.14. Directs OMB director to develop recommendations to modernize regulatory review and undoes Trump's regulatory approval process.OK15. Undoes Trump's expansion of immigration enforcement within the United States.
So?16. Enhances the nation's collection, production, sharing and analysis of coronavirus data (not sure what this is but it is welcomed)

:bigclap:bigclap

I recall another recent president who issued many executive orders. It appears to be quite an acceptable way of governing in the USA, don't you think?

Apparently many of them undoing what Trump did by executive order are totally inappropriate use of executive orders.

I mean the whole wall was always executive orders, congress never gave it funding after all. But you can stop building things like schools for the kids of those in the military because why bother with that in the first place? But stopping it is right out.

These were dollars too.

An ice cream shop owner where I lived would not accept them, said his clerks would think they were quarters. I think a lot of them ended up in NYC transit system.

Looks like a good start, glad to see you out here cheerleading for him.
I am old school... I actually hope he does well, he is our President. What I hope we all do is keep him, his Administration, and ALL politicians accountable. He has, at minimum, 4 years to work for us.

Agreed. I appreciate you keeping me up to date on how well he is doing for us. It's tough to get so much done on such a tight schedule, and yet here we are. Thanks for your help.

Like most other things, when it comes to pissing off Canada, Trump was far and away much worse than Biden. The pipeline was really only supported by Albertans. Most of the rest of Canada realize that the only thing the pipeline would actually do is let Albertans pretend for a few more years that their oil industry isn't failing.

Compared to Trump declaring Canada a threat to US national security, and starting an actual trade war affecting industries that don't need to be constantly propped up by billion-dollar giveaways by every level of government, canceling the pipeline is the "nothingburger" Trumpers are always going on about.

“Read this list of 16 Trump worshipping whiner’s complaints about the Biden Presidency! You won’t believe #13!”

3. Pissed off our staunches ally and closest neighbor by canceling the Keystone Pipeline.
As Others have pointed out, not everyone in Canada supported the pipeline, and while some in Canada may not like it, whatever damage Biden has done by cancelling the pipeline probably pales in comparison to trump's trade wars, etc.
5. Put thousands out of work (see #3 and #13).
...
13. Halts construction of "The Wall"
[/QUOTE]
First of all, while building the pipeline may have created jobs during the construction, they would have only been temporary. Once the pipeline was built, the majority of those jobs would have vanished.

Secondly... while the wall was a 'big' construction project, the money that was spent to build it did not appear out of thin air... much of the money was diverted from the military. Now that construction on the wall is ending, military funding can be restored (which itself will involve significant infrastructure... creating jobs across the U.S. instead of just along the border.)

Why?
That read to me like a poke at people who don't use cash much anymore, who are more likely to be younger.

I disagree but let me answer your ":Why": The comment I referred to was part of a discussion about money - real, physical money. In that context the comment that " if people don't know what a note is" is pretty damn condescending. Surely in a discussion about the $20 bill, an aside as to what a "note" means is a put down; maybe not intended to be one but, nevertheless, that's how it sounds. Did you really think the reference was to a note your mom wrote excusing you from PE this week?
