Certifying the Vote.

Out of curiosity, is Loeffler there today? If so, will she be allowed to speak or object since she lost?

Her term is not up, and the vote hasn't been certified, so she's still a Senator. I don't know whether she's in the Senate today.

Are there not laws in the US about inciting violence? I read in a report that Trump told the rally to storm the Capitol.

A line of armed police aiming at them, with a squad leader yelling "prepare to fire....", the line all raise their rifles and point straight at the crowd "ready....... aim...... ". That will get them backing off quick-sharp.

... and if they don't just start shooting... over their heads at first, but if they don't move.....

Sure wish they'd gas the protestors inside the building and then have them do a very public Abu Ghraid naked perp walk, bringing the normalization of cruelty and dehumanization full circle and tidily adding a marker for historians looking for root causes. Probably no such luck.

The Capitol Police are probably not equipped to handle this. They also don't want to start shooting. They've withdrwan to an inner perimeter. Looks like some smoke outside, maybe tear gas is being used outside the building.

The Capitol Police are equipped to handle this. They have handled much larger protests than this. They knew this was coming. Somebody let this happen.

I think his exact wording was "March to the capital." He certainly didn't use the word "storm".

As he does so often, he uses weasel words to encourage others to do illegal things, and leaves anyone who does what he tells them to do holding the bag.

Fair enough. A bit of foggy reporting is to be expected.

Sounds of gunshots are reported, but I wonder if they are actually flash-bangs.

Which is bad enough. There are no reports of wounded, though. All reports of shots are based on hearing the sounds.

Last thing we need is stupid conspriacy theories.
I think they were just overwhelemed. They never seriously thought the Capitol would be stormed.

Any indication of the crowd size? I only have ABC news available on the device I'm watching. They haven't given a wide angle view of the entire crowd. However, it looks like they can all fit on the steps and the paved area in front of the steps, so probably no more than 5,000 or so.

Hmm.. I see police movement on my screen now.

On the link I posted you can scroll back to see it isn't that big. As for shot like noises, I gonna go with tear gas but we'll see.

Or maybe shots, everyone safe, locked in their offices.

Switched over to FOX to see what they were saying. They mentioned that Trump "might want to tweet something a bit stronger" to calm things down.
