Trump now believes that Mike Pence is part of the liberal conspiracy against him.

Years ago MAD lampooned McCarthiyites with a song that could be sung to the tune of "Battle Hymn of the Republic." It's been fifty years and more, but I remember a little of its rant about those rotten commies:

They are running through my bedroom and that really makes me mad,
I have counted six this morning, that's including Mom and Dad...

And it collapses into the ultimate super conspiracy theory in the climax:

Right now I'm in the process of investigating me!

May be where Trump's heading next....

So who didn't see this coming? Eric Coomer is suing the alt-reality jackasses who accused him of rigging the election.

Dominion Voting Systems Employee Sues Trump Campaign And Allies For Defamation [npr.org]
A top employee of Dominion Voting Systems, who has gone into hiding after becoming the subject of conspiracy theories on the right since the election, is suing the Trump campaign, a number of campaign surrogates and pro-Trump media outlets for defamation.

Eric Coomer, director of product strategy and security for the Denver-based company, has been baselessly accused of using his position to mastermind a high-tech plot to steal the election for President-elect Joe Biden, whose victory has been certified in the states by officials of both parties with no evidence of widespread fraud or irregularities.

Coomer's suit, filed in Colorado state district court in Denver on Tuesday, accuses those responsible for spreading the falsehoods of intentional infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy.

Jesus H Christmas. This entire Trumpanzee complex is a parody of itself.

"Donald Trump has reportedly turned on his vice president, Mike Pence, and is lashing out at most of his closest allies in the dying days of his presidency.

Sources say the defeated incumbent is dismissive of aides who do not fully back his false claims that mass voter fraud took place in the 2020 election.

His chief of staff, Mark Meadows; White House counsel, Pat Cipollone; the secretary of state, Mike Pompeo; and the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, are all said to be in the line of fire."

At the risk of repeating myself, I have seen this type of thing before. These actions are the classic signs of narcissistic psyche collapse. He is finding he no longer has sway over those closest to him, and is venting on his closest supporters with ever increasing, unhinged rage. As we edge ever closer to inauguration day, the pressure on his ego will be enormous, and I would not be at all surprised if he suffers a complete breakdown.

He's the biggest case of it, but it isn't exactly a brand new phenomena.

Their loyalty is more fickle and ephemeral than it appears.

Look at how quickly they turned on FOX News, on Barr, on Newsmax when they showed their voting machine retraction.

Sure you can say that's all because their greater loyalty is to Trump, but that's just the form their group identity has taken at the moment. They'll turn on Trump too the moment the group reshapes itself.

They were going to the mat to defned Geroge W too, but nowadays they lump him in with the terrible democrat war hawks and declare his wars the most horrible things ever.

I think you're vastly wrong here. George W Bush had a few defenders; but he didn't even come close to uniting right-wingers in his defense like Trump has. The conservative conspiracy-theory set never supported Bush at all; he was the chief villain in the 9-11 "Truth" mythos.

Trump-worship is very definitely a new thing. It's not just a matter of scale; it's a matter of degree and type. Nobody sold t-shirts of Reagan in Washington's place crossing the Delaware, or fan-art of GHW Bush as a superhero mass-shooting Democrats. Nobody clamored for a current conservative political leader of any grade to be added to Mount Rushmore. Nobody openly called for presidential term limits to be suspended so that George W could continue to serve as president for decades to come. You didn't have members of Congress supporting transparently mendacious accusations of mass nation-wide voter fraud and advocating a military coup to prevent Clinton from taking power. The rules of what "support" looks like, and what kinds of rhetoric are permitted, have changed dramatically in a way never seen before. I think it's wishful thinking of the highest order to imagine that Trump worship is "ephemeral" and there's some future point at which it will simply evaporate overnight.

Republicans in the Senate so quickly forget. Right now they would be down 8 seats without my backing them in the last Election. RINO John Thune, “Mitch’s boy”, should just let it play out. South Dakota doesn’t like weakness. He will be primaried in 2022, political career over!!!

Trump trying to make power plays like this will likely fill many senate GOP with disgust. They know a lost cause when they see one, and this kind of thing just makes it smell worse.

Trump is definitely flailing. I hope he flails even more pathetically in the days to come.

Dominion Voting Systems Employee Sues Trump Campaign And Allies For Defamation [npr.org]
EVERY election employee from every state accused of rigging by Trump, OANN and NewsMax should sue them. For millions apiece, perhaps as a class action for billions of dollars in damages. See how long Trump's little grifty nest-egg holds out defending that. And how long before NewsMax rapidly distances itself from the Trump-train (it's already happening). OANN, of course, will go all red-eyed and try to fight it...and go broke in the process.

A boy can dream, can't he? ;)

I'm hoping he ends up naked in the rose garden, zig-zagging for several minutes to avoid the secret service, while someone plays the Benny Hill theme.

I think there's going to be more blow back, and rightfully so. Sanctions on Sidney Powell have been filed by the MI AG. It'll be a Schadenfreude Christmas, and then Trump will lose again on 6 January. So much delicious losing.

.

Are you kidding? Not one member (with the very annotated exception of Romney...sometimes) of the GOP in any position of power has shown any kind of spine beyond the bare, utter minimum of resistance when facing Trump (and even many of those have failed to do that little). They all fear his base and will drop to their knees and lick his shoes if he threatens to turn his voting bloc on them.

Just to show it's not just Trump and the Republicans buying into this nonsense:

And we all know how accurate pre-election polls are.

A thought occurred to me about claims that there were more voters on the rolls than there were voting age people, or any other variation of the "more votes than voters" theme. I have seen it again and again. There are so many claims, in Trump tweets, in youtube videos, in tweets. More votes than voters, more registered voters than people in the county, more of this than of that.

Not once have I seen such a claim with actual numbers attached.

I would always like to see:
Number of registered voters: X
(If state allows same day registration, include those voters)
Number of votes cast: Y
Number of voting age citizens: Z.

I get so tired of the vacuous, unverifiable, claims. Put some meat on the bones.

You're right about the disgust but not about the lost cause. Trump's not going away; he'll continue the grift and with his base behind him, can credibly act as a king-maker. If When some candidate gets in his cross hairs, it could result in a changed outcome, especially in a primary contest where Trump supports a challenge to an incumbent from the (very far) right.
