Because nothing says "I'm worried about Covid19" than forcing people to make unnecessary trips to the pharmacy in the middle of the pandemic.

I don't know, looks like a fairly smart move on his part. What's to be gained sticking around? Outside of an outright insurgency, Trump's done.
I think I'd rather tour an active war zone than be anywhere near the present "Twilight Zone" state of the Nations Capital.
 
Look, someone has to trigger Judgement Day in the Middle East.
Might as well be Pence, it's what he wanted to do all his life.
