Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 26

Think about that a bit. That means mabe a quarter of Americans. Since being white is losing its majority status. I see it as a sign things are getting better. Trumpism is reactionary.

I've said this before. One reason for that is because the White Supremacist idiots are defining themselves into a minority.

For example, what the hell is Hispanic vs. non-Hispanic whites? If you have ancestors from Spain you are some different kind of white?

How about Italians? Mebbe they should be excluded too.

And the Polish ought to be right out.

Irish? Goes without saying.

Something I did not want to believe, but the evidence is there. I'm of the belief that most people are somewhat racist, even if just unconsciously, but that overall they valued a fair society. I was shocked by the New Yorker article about Trump's extreme popularity with white supremacist groups (this was before the 2016 election). I thought his palaver about manufacturing and mining jobs was what ordinary people were responding to most. .

Remember in 2016, and HRC got in hot water in West Virginia because she (was taken out of context) claimed that we were going to take away coal? And Trump was the big hero because he was the one who was going to save the coal industry?

Well, no surprise but the coal industry is still dying, and coal mining jobs were still lost at rates that were no different from before.

And in 2020, Trump won West Virginia with nearly 70% of the vote.

It was never about mining jobs.

I hope House Republicans will vote against the very weak National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which I will VETO. Must include a termination of Section 230 (for National Security purposes), preserve our National Monuments, & allow for 5G & troupe reductions in foreign lands!

God I hope democrats call Trump's bluff, and trump vetoes a defence spending bill. It might just convince a few more people that republicans really don't like the military. (They just use them as props.)

Seriously, he will veto the defense spending bill because a) twitter, b) Confederate generals, and c) Bobby Troupe?

And they don't believe that he only got 20% of the military mail-in vote?

The white minority status doesn't mean much in the USA since the financial and political power still belongs to the white man.

It would be a fitting end to the Trump presidency to have his last veto be the first (and only) one to be overridden (link to Politico article):

President Donald Trump is on a collision course with congressional Republicans and Democrats over the annual defense policy bill, setting up what will likely be the first and only veto override of Trump’s presidency.
...
“There’s no way we would have a defense authorization bill with that language in it,” Senate Armed Services Chair Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) told POLITICO on Monday. “There’s no question about it. And so obviously, I would have to do what I could to override a veto.”
...
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the House GOP Conference chair and an outspoken defense hawk, said bluntly: “We should override.”

And it’s not normal when a sitting Senator is forced to retire because his Arizona poll numbers were so low that he would have come out dead last in the Republican Primary, and had zero chance of winning the general election. Great job Jeff!

There is long-term damage when this kind of behavior is normalized. It is not normal, and elected Republicans need to speak out against it.

Charlie Manson.

I was trying to think of someone less qualified than President Chucklehead to identify what is and isn’t normal.

ETA
So you found some time in your busy days as president to insult someone who correctly pointed out a flaw. It is not normal to prioritize one’s time in this manner.

Oh, it won't necessarily be his last. There's the stimulus bill Congress is negotiating; I wouldn't be surprised to see him veto that. Or the continuing resolution to fund the government. Just out of spite.

Exactly how many dancers/performers do we have "in foreign lands"?

ETA: Ninja'd by expedient and top notch performers.

It's a common behaviour. When you perceive you have "plenty" you are not too picky about who else can have a bit, but once you think you have got less then you had before then you will find any way to stop others getting a single morsel.

But if they don't override, it looks even worse for stubby Mcbonespurs (since his actions will have real repercussions), then Biden can swoop in on day 1 of the presidency and sign any military funding bills that are needed.

Trump says it's terrific 15% of Americans have caught Covid.

"Speaking at a White House coronavirus vaccine event, the outgoing US president said on Tuesday: “I hear we’re close to 15 percent. I’m hearing that, and that’s terrific.”

The one-term president was apparently referring to the theory of herd immunity.

Herd immunity refers to a situation where enough people in a population have immunity to an infection to be able to effectively stop that disease from spreading.

Some 70% of the US population of 330 million would need to be inoculated to achieve “herd” immunity from the virus."

https://uk.yahoo.com/news/trump-covid-19-terrific-215914970.html

Around 285,000 Americans have died with the disease and the pandemic is continuing to surge across the country."

So if 70% need to catch it then I guess that's a potential over 1 million deaths, small price to pay...
