2020 Presidential Election part 2

Wow, that's truly horrible.

That old adage about not being able to choose your family never rang more true.

It is not a coincidence that I am the only one of my immediate family that does not live within 15 miles of where we grew up.

I should clarify that I don't think my mom deliberately committed "voter fraud," and it was just total cluelessness, but given their attitude, I don't care. And no one in the family tried to talk her out of it, and, in fact, encouraged her.

(given the circumstances, I was not going to rock the boat)

President Biden

Mr. President Biden

Joseph R. Biden, President of the United States of America

Mr. President

President Joe Biden, sir

(don't mind me I'm just practicing for the real thing in January)

How refreshing to be able to address a US president as "Mister President" again...
Amirite?

:D

And let's not forget about Ms Vice President, Kamala Harris. Madam Vice President. How sweet does that sound? Ha!

Airheads celebrating in the streets.

This country is still ****** (and, therefore, the world is ******). The honeymoon effect will subside when the reality of President Biden sets in.

We can finally see some light approaching at the end of the tunnel.

I don't care if the GOP renders Biden a lame duck president, because right now all I care about is thoroughly enjoying this celebratory Crown Royal and gingerale.

I raise my glass to you, Biden voters! Thank you.

Sincerely,
The rest of the world.

The foot is off the accelerator at least - even if the direction of travel mightn't be brilliant if given the Senate.

I presume that a lot of the focus in India is on Harris being the first American of Indian descent to rise so high?

There are those, me included, who are happy that American Democracy still shows the resilience to elect their first woman VP who isn't white. We tend to see her as an American first and don't expect her to carry the "Indian" burden.

Then there are those who saddle her with it and claim some sort of kinship. Her grand father's village, mainly upper caste Brahmin, held temple prayers and devotions to ensure her success. Indians feed vicariously on someone else's success and find ways to appropriate it.
Then, of course we have the rightwing Hindutva brigade who consider her a race traitor.

Apparently some wag is parked outside the White House blasting Kool & The Gang.

If only someone was doing it outside his golf course...
