Also fair money on any Trump appointee/team member that does transition over to the new administration suddenly start whining about how Biden is making things "unnecessarily hard" on them because he expects them to like... actually do their job.

What an idiot.

1. U.S. population has increased from 304 million to 330 million, an 8.5% increase, since 2008.

2. Voter turnout percentage was very high this year - one of the highest in a century.

3. Biden is still on track to receive a lesser percentage of registered voters than Obama did in 2008.

The only scandal here is the number of Americans who are baffled by simple statistics.

Well, "stop the vote" was his only strategy. Telling trumpsters to vote in person and all Democrats taking mail as the sensible option led to the current situation.

Not sure who talked Trump into this. The Gore thing may have led Trump plus a few close advisors to think that it works that way. In fact the Gore decision is still a mystery. You would need to show large scale corruption or voting rights being violated to get the SC involved. On the whole, they are lawyers and the general principle for Republicans is to leave it to the states. In Trump's case, very few red states are still counting. Georgia maybe.

Voting and counting has never stopped count at end of election day. Military votes has been a process since early 1800s.

My childhood friend in Europe is confused by Trump law suites and our electoral college. We actually have a process. The governors and state legislatures are to come up with the electors. They send them to the electoral college virtual meeting in December. They vote. The decision sticks. In early days the had some second rounds of voting for top two candidates. None of that happens now.

I wonder how many people planned to vote on election day, then couldn't make it for one reason or another. Trump should at least have been pushing them to vote early in person, but I don't recall him doing even that.

And to gild that lily, so to speak, my understanding is that in reality, in past elections, the fraction of Repugnicans vs, Democrats voting by absentee ballot wasn't actually all that different.

But we all know that Trump's natural reaction when he finds himself in a hole he has dug is to dig faster and harder. (Or at least get his people to do so.)

Yeah, but those are just facts, figures...simple statistics. Hercules doesn't care about any of those things, his argument is based on simple incredulity, with no basis for comparison with his preferred alternative by which to judge which is more credible. It's like the 9/11 CTist- "19 cave-dwellers hijacked planes with box-cutters and defeated the most technologically advanced nation in the world? Totally legit..." Or the average creationist- "molecules just assembled themselves into intelligence? As if!" In either case (because, as I've said before, religion is just the ultimate CT), no thought is given to offering an alternative that doesn't equally strain real-world credibility. In this case, what's Hercules's preferred scenario? Apparently, that the Biden Machine was able to manufacture from nothing that record-making number of votes without leaving one bit of evidence for the conspiracy except the seamless success of it. The devil is in the details because god/the conspiracy needs no room for them, he/it fills up all the spaces necessary for simple belief.

These guys aren't baffled by simple math so much as they just deny any place for it.

Considering the spike in covid cases the week leading up to the election, lots of people were either sick or under quarantine with a sick relative. In a state like GA it could have made the difference. Republicans didn't make it to the polls to vote, Democrats already did.

It's typical CTer thinking, and it's very scary to see how it's seeped into mainstream political thinking. Start with the conclusion - the election was rigged - and then present any scrap of information that sounds "odd" as evidence. Look, here's a sudden jump in votes for Biden! Here's a story about Trump votes thrown in the trash! Here's a Biden quote taken out of context!

The best way to counter this -- press them for specific details and evidence. Often they actually believe the CT they're spreading, and being asked for specifics can be enough to make someone realise that their belief is unfounded.

Trump is such a liar. I saw video of these occurrences -- they weren't "observers", they were mobs trying to push their way into the counting facilities to stop the counting.

The actual Republican observers were in the facility at the time, observing the count.

Yeah, but there was all that time when they could only get 10 feet away. Imagine all the shenanigans that surely went on, hour after hour, until they could finally get 6 feet away and see what was really happening!
